On 2/10/2016 I bought a "new/refurbished" long block 1.7L Honda motor from Andre Shakhbazyan that is a manager at General Auto Parts at 12315 Branford St in Sun Valley California 91352 (eBay acct is enginestore123), other business names are K.D. Auto Dismantling Inc., Mikes Subaru, Engine Palace. The purchase was made on EBay and he was advertising the motor with a 1yr unlimited mile warranty.
The motor took a month to arrive. Within 3744 miles and less than 3 months the motor had started to profusely burn oil from the #1 cylinder, leak oil from the rear main seal and other spots, and finally just failed due to a cheap timing belt tensioner that allowed the timing belt to slack up and not stay tight around the crank and cam pulley causing the motor fail and bend valves etc internally. When the motor arrived to me it was missing the valve cover and had a broken plastic piece behind the cam gear. I made him aware of these issues immediately and I was told that it should be fine. Andre is trying to accuse my mechanic of pulling the motor apart to replace this part which was never done as this part is still on the motor and has nothing to do with the oil burning/leaking issues nor does it have anything to do with the cheap timing belt tensioner that was used and that failed and ruined this motor.
I was patient even when this motor took a month to get to me with very poor communication along the way. I sent questions and concerns through eBay to him and never got a reply. I instead got text messages and then him blaming my mechanic that did the install for the motor failing. I got an offer of a $500.00 refund or a replacement motor from Andre, but I don't want another motor from this shop due to the cheap parts that are used, and $500 isn't a 100% refund that I feel I should get because of how this motor failed. I am now stuck with a motor/car that is no good to me after I just spent over $2000.00 on a "new/ refurbished" motor, its installation and many other new parts. Do not do business with this man or General Auto Parts or any of the other names this business goes by listed above as you will more than likely get ripped off and not have any type of warranty that was stated in the beginning before your gave him/that business your hard earned money. I had sent Andre a couple of different text messages with pics of the failed tensioner and the fouled spark plug and asked about him honoring the advertised warranty. If I could post pics here of the failed timing belt tensioner, the oil/carbon covered spark plug, and broken piece of plastic that he claims was replaced by my mechanic (but it wasn't) I would.
On 7/7/16 I was offered a $350 refund and a new/rebuilt head after posting negative reviews/feed back to replace the head I was sent that now has bent valves from the timing belt tensioner failure, it is now 8/10/16 and I have yet to receive the refund or the replacement head despite numerous texts and phone calls asking for tracking info or a status. You would think that a business would want to resolve problems like this.. but apparently not. Also, Paypal and eBay don't guarantee ANY type of "warranty" from any sellers so if you think Paypal and eBay protect the buyer that is out all of this money, think again because they don't.

Buy your motor or parts elsewhere.
8/29/16 update: I have not received any $350 refund or the replacement head that I was told I would get on numerous different occasions. I have been quoted a price of $800 to get this motor running again (to have the bent valves in the head replaced that were damaged when the timing tensioner failed along with labor, also to get a new Honda timing belt tensioner, timing belt, a new Felpro head gasket set, and new woodruff key for the crank). I have also since found out that the woodruff key that General Auto Parts installed was literally half the size of what it needs to be to hold the harmonic balancer onto the crankshaft in the correct position and I cant believe it even worked. When general auto parts assembled the motor, they stripped out the bolt hole in the block that holds the timing belt tensioner into the motor, so now it has to be re-threaded. To do this the correct way I have to buy an $85 Time-sert kit to have the hole re-tapped for a new bolt that will have the correct 33 ft lbs of torque on it instead of whatever to high amount of torque that general auto parts installed it at. That $800 price I mentioned doesn't include any labor either other then what the shop charges to replace the bent valves and shave the head. All the valves now need to have the valve lash reset as well. All of this $$ time and problems doesn't even fix the very bad burning oil issue this motor has which I suspect is from poor installation of the rings on cylinder #1.
I bought this motor expecting it to be new and not have any of these problems, to have a dependable and cheap vehicle to drive again... I just finished chemo and radiation treatments for Hodgkin's Lymphoma, and wrenching on this car is not what I want to be or need to be doing anymore. Not to mention I don't have the extra $$ for all this, and this guy/business cant even provide me what I paid $1100 for or offer (and actually follow through) with any help fixing this problem.
