In November 2005, my car would not start so I had it towed to Bret Chevrolet where they determined that the theft deterent system had lost programming going into the ignition. It cost me $218.26 for the reprogramming and $80.00 for the tow.
In March 2006 my 2001 Chevy Malibu would not start again. This went on until April 17, 2006 when I had it towed to Bret Chevrolet. They they stated that all circuits were within specification and no circuit faults were present, and they gave me back the car stating that they would need to see the hard fault to find the problem. It cost me $96.38 and $80.00 for the tow.
This problem continued. I drove the car to Bret Chevrolet and asked them again to try to find the problem with the car. They said that it "most likely" was the ignition lock cylinder based on stored fault codes and previous service history. They replaced the lock cylinder at the amount of $480.61.
Before I had the car worked on, I spoke to a car repair shop. The man I spoke with stated that this was a problem since day one for the Chevy Malibu.
Is this a lemon law problem, can I be reimbursed by the General Motors Corporation or do I have to eat the expense of this problem?

I noticed you payed $160 in towing fees. You might want to check with your insurance company. I pay $5, for 6 months, for towing coverage. Have 3 vehicles, which means I pay $15 every 6 months for all 3 vehicles. My wife calls me when she blows a tire, why I don't know, I call the insurance company who sends out a wrecker to change the tire. Same goes for locked keys or if we were to run out of gas, which ain't gonna happen. Use it 3 or 4 times per year. They'll pay up to $120 for towing. Remember that "women", who posted here, who was pi**ed because they wouldn't tow her car from one side of the country to the other. You would have saved yourself either $155 or $150. The only other thing I have to say is you're posting about a problem you're having, with a 2001 vehicle in November 2005 and again in March of 2006. Either a 5 or 6 year old vehicle, I doubt the lemon laws apply.
