I went to the Goen seminars to quit smoking. They used hypnosis as a tool. They also told us that once we quit smoking, we were gauranteed to gain 20lbs. They offered herbal products to help you loose weight and to cleanse out your system.

They also said that one of the herbal products could not be found at your local healthfood stores and if you did find it, it would costs in the $600 range - however, they could get you this product for much less.

I bought 3 months of products at the cost of $500. About 2 weeks later, I called the customer service number and was told I could not return these products without a Doctors note. The $500 did not include the $60 I spent to go to the seminar.

They said you had to get your money back right after the seminar and if you did not, your only option was to go to more seminars when they returned to your area. I was smoking an hour after the seminar and I have yet to get my money back.

They said I signed a contract stating I agreed to these terms. The only thing I signed was my credit card receipt. This company is a rip off - dont get scammed.

Goen Weight Loss Seminars

AUTHOR: Dani - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, March 22, 2009

I atteneded a seminar in Houston in 2005, and it worked for me. I bought no pills or extras, just went through the hypnosis, and in one year I'd lost 80 lbs. I FELT the changes, noticed them immediately. It takes 30 days for an idea to become implanted in your brain, so they give you a tape to listen to everyday for a month. If you want it to work, it can help.

You have to really want to quit

AUTHOR: Sondra - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, December 10, 2004

My husband and I went to a seminar in August, 2002. We have both been smoke free since then. We did not buy the suppliments because we simply did not have the money at the time. Both of us did gain weight, but I don't blame that on the company. I blame that on the fact that we don't eat right. I also fully believe that the hypnosis will not work unless you have a very open mind and are really ready to quit. You also have to go into the seminar with the mind set that you are going to quit, not that you are going to TRY. If you are just going to TRY don't bother going, it won't work. Either do it or don't. Thank you Goen Seminars! I love being an ex-smoker!

Best Solution Ever!

AUTHOR: Melissa - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, February 23, 2004

My boyfriend and I went to this seminar in August 2000. We were complete chain smokers and smoking between 2 - 3 packs a day. It has been 3 1/2 years since our last cigarette. We feel wonderful. Yes we were warned of weight issues and did not purchase any supplements. Cigarettes were poisen enough and we did not want anything added. We did gain some weight but it is very hard not to since food now tastes much better than it ever has! They also tell you in the beginning if you are not ready to quit then don't come to this seminar it won't work. As far as it being a rip-off....I truly believe those are the people who never wanted to quit in the first place.

It does work!!

AUTHOR: Evelyn - (Canada)

POSTED: Saturday, July 26, 2003

Dear Readers
I am writing this in response to the letters stating the Goen Seminar for quitting smoking is a rip-off. I can say that this method for quitting smoking DOES work!!

I have smoked for more years(over 30) than I care to remember and I had a father that smoked. I wanted to be "cool" and fit right in and I got suckered, hook, line and sinker! This behavior in the media is misleading and this addiction is hard to beat. I have done every imaginable method for quitting: accupuncture, laser, diet change, supplements, patch, gum and even drove from Niagara Falls, Ontario to Boston to see the "Mad Russian" to help me. Nothing worked and I felt hopeless to this addiction. I saw an advertisment in the Sunday Buffalo News on March 18th, 2001 at a friend's place. I studied it and decided to give it a try, what was $50 American to lose. I attended the seminar on March 23 and I have not regreted the time, energy and money since. I did not feel the need to buy their vitamins and just used their tapes for support.

This attendence was made with the hope and belief that I was going to get help and said a prayer for guidence. I have been a quitter ever since then. I have had people tell me that it is wonderful that I will not end up like my father with heart disease and dying younger than expected. I have made a promise to myself to make a trip each year as a present to myself.

I am forever grateful for this seminar. I think that those who had a failure with this method did not go with an open mind and put their heart into quitting this nasty habit. Maybe the time was not right for you. You may have to go again and change the mindset. I am going back to this seminar and I am taking a few people with me to give them moral support.

I know this method works and I am living proof of it!

Thier Program worked for me

AUTHOR: DAVID - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, June 05, 2003

I have been a smoker for about 15 years smoking a pack and a half a day.

I went to one of the seminars here two weeks ago and we were told right up front before the program began that there was supplements available and that without changing eating habits you had a possibilty of gaining weight. I didnt purchase the supplements but found most of the same products (through research) at local health and nutrition centers and have not smoked or had the urge to smoke for two weeks now. The program worked for me. I am sorry it didnt work for you.

#3 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Yes, it's a scam, and I was a "Hypnotist"

AUTHOR: Dan - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, May 07, 2003

I was a speaker for Goen Seminars for a short time, and I can tell you from the inside that I never ever once was given any hypnosis training whatsoever, and think it's a scam. They do, however, train you how to push supplements with ephedra to people who came to quit smoking or loose weight.

If you choose to use a hypnotist to help you quit smoking or loose weight, go for it. Unfortunately, you won't find many at Goen Seminars. I can state without equivocation that I received not one iota of hypnosis training, but collected $60 per person from people coming to see a hypnotist. And just try to get a refund on anything. Good luck.

I think someone should start a class-action suit. I'd help.

By the way, those rebuttal letters are very suspicious. They use language very similar to that of my boss, Ed, at Goen. Who, by the way, was an obese smoker himself. Sure it works.

My Miracle

AUTHOR: Diane - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, May 01, 2003

I attended Goen Seminars on May 7, 2002 and have not smoked since neither did I gain any weight. I also purchased a few of their herbal medicines but only used them for a short time.

I prayed for a miracle as this was going to be my last attempt at quitting. I have done everything else including pills, inhaler, acupuncture, patch, individual hypnosis and nothing worked for me until I attended the Goen Seminar. They explain exactly how the hypnosis works and address all your doubts about whether it will work or not.

I thank God they came to Duluth and many of my friends and relatives are waiting to attend the next time they visit.

Dear Tulsa

AUTHOR: Donna - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, April 08, 2003

I'm so sorry that you have had this experience
with Goen's Stop Smoking seminar. I attended a
seminar in January of 2002 and have been Smoke
FREE since then. I was never guaranteed to gain 20 lbs......... I was "warned" that, without changing my habits after I quit smoking, that it was a great possibility, but ever "guaranteed". I, too purchased herbal products that I could not use and was able to return them, along with a copy of my receipt and my credit card was promptly credited.

There was no need for a Doctor's note. I have
recommended the Goen Seminars to several of my
friends and two of them have attended the Seminar
and have been successful at quitting smoking. I do not consider Goen a rip-off, I consider them one of the best things that have happened to me!
Thank you for the opportunity to rebut!
