Leah Winkler did not write any initial report on anybody at all because she does not even use the sites nor goes on them to read anything so you guys need to stop blaming others that have not done anything at all. You all need to get a life! Even though I no longer care, because people like Lea Winkler are the reason I decided breeding and showing golden retrievers was no longer fun. Because of hateful breeders that think they can ruin the competition with a few ripoff reports. Just enjoying my dogs without all of the drama now.

But I do not appreciate Lea posing as me by stating she is the owner of the company in this latest rebuttal about Debbie. I do not even know Debbie and this is NOT the place to bad mouth her. You really need to get over it. And condemning someone to h**l? Really? Who do you think you are?

First of all, you lied when you stated you are the owner of the company, because you are not. Secondly, take your comments and opinions about Debbie somewhere else. This is not the place for them. Thirdly, it sounds like it is time for you to stop breeding dogs. When all you can do is say hateful things about people and be miserable, why even do it? This thread is over 2 years old. Move on.

Please verify that the breeder is following the Golden Retriever Club of America's Code of Ethics in breeding.  This will help to insure that you get the most healthy puppy possible.

Here are the guidelines from GRCA.org (with important details in Bold):

"a. Hips for U.S. dogs, a report from Orthopedic Foundation for Animals; or PennHIP at 24 months of age or older.  For dogs outside the U.S., report from a health registry approved by the Golden Retriever club of that country (e.g. Canada - Ontario Veterinary College; Great Britain - BVA/KC Hip Score) A report from the accepted health registry of another country may be used for U.S. dogs that are 24 months of age or older when x-rayed.

b.Eyes appropriate report from a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmology (ACVO) or from a BVA/KC approved ophthalmologist (Great Britain), or a report from the Canine Eye Registry Foundation. For dogs outside the U.S., a report from an ophthalmologist as recommended by the Golden Retriever club of that country after 1 year of age. Examinations must be done within 12 months of a breeding.

c. Hearts appropriate report from a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Medicine, Cardiology Specialty or a certification by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals by a cardiologist (the number will be followed by a C) at 12 months of age or older.

d. Elbows for U.S. dogs, a report from Orthopedic Foundation for Animals at 24 months of age or older.  For dogs outside the U.S., report from a health registry approved by the Golden Retriever club of that country at 24 months of age or older. A report from the accepted health registry of another country may be used for U.S. dogs that are 24 months of age or older when x-rayed."

Debbie Kern sold a puppy to some buyer she got mad because her kennel name was not used by the original person that bought her on her AKC papers. Harold bought her from a second party. The dog was NOT bred at 15 mos of age try 19 months of age. You need to get your stories straight lady. Le and Harold are far from ethical breeders, is that also why the fact that they give 26 mos hipe elbow herata nd eye guarantees too and a 2-3 year health genetic guarantee as well. In your right mind how many people will you run across that are breeders that will give you that with your puppy? And no they would never take away somebodies puppy that they own. They are just so unethical, how many breeders will give you a free puppy when their puppy got heart worms that is NOT the breeders fault? Ya that is what I thought. You will never be able to find a better breeder out there as lea and Harold and with their awesome guarantees that they offer too that nobody else does.

It is so sad to see others as in Debbie Kern judge others and make nasty comments on them over 3 years and still wont leave the winkler's alone, does that tell you something? Debbie Kern has serious issues and mental problems harassing families for over 3 years for doing nothing but buying one of her dogs as second owner that was already named with full AKC reg too. She got mad her kennel name was not used so she withdrew the dogs full AKC to Limited akc.  Too Bad so sad...her dog she sold the owners did not use her kennel name....Boo h*o she's still crying going on 4 years coming up.

Who would want American goldens any way all inbred cancer in the lines hip dysplasia liver shunt problems, ya if you want those be sure to buy from Debbie Kern herself since she knows everything and is God.

It is Not Lea Winkler up to any tricks Please explain

It appears that the initial person writing this complaint was Lea Winkler (at least according to Gold Standard Kennels).  Before you believe anything Lea says read the numerous complaints filed against her.  IF Gold Standard is a puppy mill - that is like the pot calling the kettle black - Lea is the most unethical breeder I have EVER had the displeasure of running across and her only concern is making money off of the poor dogs she manages to get her hands on.  A reputable breeder doesn't breed a 15 month old puppy that was sold on a limited registration, a reputable breeder doesn't commit fraud to get a full registration on a puppy - like she did to me.  You can read all about what she did to me with the little girl she purchased from me.  I have full documentation to prove everything Lea did.  I happily provide it to anyone who is considering getting involved with her (either as a buyer or seller).  To this date I have no knowledge where the girl she bought from me is - the last I heard she said she was going to breed her as much as possible then euthanize her.  If that doesn't constitute Lea Winkler as a puppy mill then I guess I don't know the definition.  I don't know if Gold Standard is a puppy mill but I can tell you that Lea Winkler is extremely dishonest and is definitely not a pleasant person.  Please also note that she never has the guts to sign her own name to a post.  I am a firm believer if you are going to say something then sign your name to it.  In my opinion, I would take anything Lea Winkler has to say as being from a raving maniac and not put any stock in it.

Debbie Kern

First off, I would like to say that all of my dogs are health tested (hips, elbows, eyes, and heart) before breeding, so I do not breed dogs with genetic problems. Also, our male's grandparents are still alive at 14 years old and healthy, so the lineage is healthy. Secondly, I admit, that at the time I sold you your puppies our male was not an International Champion...and honest mistake. I thought that since he was a Canadian Champion, he was "Internationally" a Champion. However, he now IS only 3 shows away from an International title. Secondly, Amadeus has a pure black nose. I do not know where you get that he has a red nose, but you are mislead. Also, he had his Hungarian health testing done, yes, and he passed. But we have gotten his OFA hips and elbows done and also have clearances on eyes and heart since importing him.

My female Goldens have all of their health testing, as do their parents. They have not produced any puppies with health problems, so I do not see a reason to discontinue breeding them. I have never told anyone anywhere that I am breeding only for the money. That would be foolish. I only make enough to cover the expenses of breeding because I do it the right way, without cutting corners. All of the money I make goes back into puppies.

My family are pet lovers, yes. My sister breeds small breed dogs and my parents have 2 English Goldens that they breed, as well. I have 3 breeding dogs, myself. This is hardly considered anywhere NEAR a puppy mill. As of right now, I am in college, so I plan to "get a job" once I graduate this May.

Here in the USA, there is freedom of religion, so, therefore, I am free to express my religious views on my website. These beliefs are something that are the most important part of my life, so I feel I should express them on the website to let people get to know me better.

I do not understand why you put something about Solid Rock Goldens being a puppy mill into MY review. It is true that we got two girls from them years ago, before they became a puppy mill. Our girls are great dogs, exhibiting the excellent temperament, beauty, and health of a true English Golden.

We are actively involved in showing our dogs and one of our puppies actually just received Best of Breed in two shows over the weekend. All of our dogs are health tested before breeding and are a part of the family.

My boyfriend does not breed dogs with me, but helps me with caring for them. I am 20 years old, yes, but I have been researching bloodlines, breeding, etc. since I was 12. I have many many references available to anyone who wants them.

I do not understand what I have done to offend you. Your puppies (both of them) are healthy and happy. I drove to and from North Carolina two times to exchange puppies when you thought you got the wrong one (even though you didn't) and I did not complain. I did everything in my power to satisfy your needs. If there is anything else I can do for you, please let me know. Best of luck with your babies!
