When my husband and bought our small business in 2002, we were approached by a salesperson from Golden Eagle Leasing to provide us with their credit card equipment and services. We signed up and used them for 4 years out of our 5 year lease. We had a lot of trouble with the machines and service but continued with them to fulfill our lease agreement.

After a devastating fire forced the sale of our business, we wrote them a detailed letter explaining our situation and asked to be released from our commitment to them. They did not respond to our letter or numerous phone calls so we finally boxed up the equipment and mailed it to them.

They countinued withdrawing the credit card equipment payment from our bank account and ignorning our calls until we closed our business account a few months later. Even then they continued trying to make withdrawals against it. Finally we received late notices from them and when we resent copies of the first letter requesting release from our lease and the second letter explaining why we were returning the equipment, they acted as though we were flys on the wall. They continued ignoring us and started the harrassing phone calls. Up to 20-25/day. They refused to discuss the situation, they refused to let me talk to a supervisor and the mentality and speaking ability of their "agents" was at the very low end of the spectrum.
Their agents continued the phone calls for months asking the same question over and over...."When are you paying us"? There was never an opportunity for discussion or explanation because they either sat there dumbly and repeated the same question over and over or hung up. They would even call and blast loud music into our phone when we answered. We were subjected to the most unprofessional, cruel, unending and ridiculous harrassment you can imagine.

When that would stop we would get letters from Northern Leasing's attorney demanding payment because although the agreement was with Golden Eagle, they owned the equipment. The equipment had been returned but that didn't matter.

They filed 2 reports with the Credit Bureaus against us, 1 for each machine although it was all one business. We've protested the reports but to no avail. We are fortunate that we have had such good credit in the past and this is the only "ding" against us so they haven't ruined our life like they were trying to do.

We will still continue protesting our credit report and refusing to pay them. If we can keep one person from using this corupt, trashy excuse for a company, we will feel somewhat avenged.
