Jennifer Parker (with heavy accent) from the Governmental Grant Information Guide called me late last night. She said that she was working with the federal grant program and knew that I was able to recieve $8000 in grant money. She said that it was only a one time offer. She had all of my information (mailing address and such).
I thought that maybe she got it from some of the financial aid websites I had signed up for. She asked for my account number. She also said that there would be a one time processing fee of $257.00. I didn't give the account number up right away, but she got it from me eventually. She then transferred me to a man (whose name I don't remember). He was actually quite rude when I was still frustrated with giving up my account number. He made me give my number to him and also say it into a computer recording device.
After hanging up, I went online and checked the company out. I called up my bank and cancelled my main account in order to stop any kind of withdrawls that they would do.

#1 Consumer Suggestion
Never give out your checking acct number

Advice. Do NOT EVER give a caller your checking account number. You may agree to specific amount but they can debit your account for ANTHING they want.
A credit card, true one not a debit card would have been better, but BEST is NOT TO HAVE convestations with TELEMARKTERS. And look then up on google or here. You will see plenty of complaints for these scamsters.
