I am yet another unwitting consumer who has been SCAMMED AND ROBBED by Great Expectations dating service. This company was sued on June 24, 2009 by the great state of Wisconsin and this is not the first state that has sued this company. Pennsylvania, Kansas and Arizona have also sued this company for various reasons. Check out (((Redacted))) for more information.
My relationship with GE all started by my reply to an on-line ad which was NOT ASSOCIATED with their organization (AtlantaSingles.com). After replying to this ad the company called me relentlessly until I finally decided to come in to see what it was all about. I was told that I could come in, check it out and if I was interested I could come back (which was a lie). Upon entering the location I was hit with the hardest of the hard-sell tacticts that I have ever experienced in my lifetime. There's a reason that there are laws against this behavior people! I was given a quiz and even though I scored lowly on the "are you ready for a relationship section" this was turned around and punched back in my face. I was told that if I considered utilizing other services that I was putting myself at risk of meeting "questionable people". That these "other" services often harbor criminals as well as married individuals who are just out looking for a fling. I was told that Great Expectations did a criminal background check on all their members (another lie). The only background check was on my credit history to see if I could MAKE THE PAYMENTS. No criminal background check was performed.
After I left and had time to "cool down" I decided that this was not the thing for me. I did not harbour good feelings about the whole encounter and wanted to not participate. When I called the agency back to let them know that, and let them know that I did not want to engage in getting a loan for this endeavor, I was bulled by the "Membership Manager". This person told me that I had signed a contract, that there was no way out of it and that I had to go through with the obligation. I was yelled at on the phone, was made to seem small and was bullied beyond reason. I ended up relenting when he came down 1/3 in price and I have regretted that move ever since.
Since being a member of Great Expectations I have not gotten one single date. The first "request" that I got was from a man that was 15 YEARS MY SENIOR (and ugly to boot). When I was told that I could get on the website and customize the age range options I could not find a way to do it. GE's website is EXTREMELY LAME and their explanation for the lack of features is that they must be "accessible to everyone, even senior citizens". Furthermore, Great Expectations has cut off my ability to search their user base because I have not filled out a complete "extended" profile. When I attempted to fill out the extended profile the computer did not take the update (despite my hard work and thoughtfullness at filling everything out) and I was once again contacted by the Membership Manager who is a complete bully, bullied me once again and made me regret my association with this organization. So essentially I am paying monthly for nothing.
I CANNOT SAY ENOUGH BAD THINGS ABOUT THIS ORGANIZATION. Do not associate yourself with them. They are a complete lie, they STEAL people's money. If you see any "Singles" signs around town DO NOT go to the websites. They are a funnel site to Great Expecations website. And if you wind up in front of the Great Expecations hard-sell, just be smart and say no.
PS. I regularly pull up any "Singles" signs I see in North Atlanta. I have quite the collection. JOIN MY MOVEMENT! Stop these theives from stealing hard-earned cash from other honest folks. Pull up their signs!!!!!!!!!!! They can't steal if they can't advertise!!!!!
