Grinnell Regional Hospital Grinnell, Iowa Hospital Poor health care, horrible treatment, and outrageous wait times, and high cost of bills. Grinnell, Iowa

I am from Grinnell, Iowa, have been all my life. I have used the hospital whenever I have to, but the ER is a complete disgrace! Over the last several years I find rude doctors and nurses who act like you no right to be there, interrupting their chat sessions and coffee breaks.

I recently had to use this ER again, because I had a somewhat embarrassing and potentially life threatening condition, and I did not know WHAT was going on, and neither did they, and it was TWO HOURS before someone checked me. I understand priorities come over order of admittance, but I was never even checked.

When the doctor finally did see me he was literally in and out in three minutes, throwing medical technical terms at me like machine gun fire and trying to go out the door. I literally had to keep interrupting him to keep him from dashing off. Later, still having questions, I found him EATING and no other patients in the ER. I was asking the nurse questions, and she said one thing and the doctor said the opposite. The prescription and things I was supposed to do for treatment were scribbled and writtern over so many times that it looked like a 2-year-old went at it. Asking them questions about this, they both looked at me like I was completely stupid and gave me smart mouthed answers.

I have never felt comfortable in this ER and I have used it off and on my entire life. I have been to a couple other ERs in my life, and I have seen worlds of difference in service and medical treatment.

Then these hacks try to send me bills worth hundreds of dollars when I am not even convinced I got proper medical care?

If you can avoid it, DO NOT go to this ER if you are in this area. You will be belittled, rushed, and quite possibly not treated properly. Go instead, to Marshalltown, Newton, or farther down the interstate, to Des Moines, or the closest to the east would be Marengo. Grinnell is the worst ER you could go to!
