The Grout Medic, Allan Peters I received an estimate from Allan Peters for repairing grout for a leaking tub. I was given an estimate of $843.26 and told that with cleaning, grout and replacing loose tiles, the job would take about four hours. The person who came to perform the work was done in an hour and forty five minutes. When I questioned the $400+ hourly charge, I was told I needed to speak with Mr. Peters. I paid the charge via credit card and called Mr. Peters to inquire. When I questioned him about the bill, he said estimates are based on job, not time and then HUNG UP ON ME! In addition to ripping me off, he is a cowardly and unprofessional businessperson. Nationwide

I called The Grout Medic to get a repair estimate for recaulking a tub after a leak.  Allan Peters, the owner of The Grout Medic (of Monmouth County) came and gave me an estimate for repair.  The estimate was $846.23, after a $50 coupon (provided by Mr. Peters) and I was told the job would take four hours.

Much to my surprise, the gentleman who showed up to do the work was not Allan Peters.  He did all requisite work to complete the repair and was finished in one hour and forty-five minuites.  That is less than half the time estimated.  I questioned the charge and was told that it did seem unusually high for this repair. The serviceman had no authority to make changes and told me to contact Mr. Peterson.  I paid the invoice via credit card and made the phone call.

I left a message specifically for Allan Peterson, yet my call was returned by the same gentleman who performed the repair. I waited several days for Mr. Peterson to call back.  When I questioned the charge, I was told that the "estimate" is per job and apparetnly not an estimate at all.  Despite being significantly less work than initially thought, his charge stood.  Upon mention of the now $400+/hourly rate, Allan Peterson HUNG UP ON ME!

In addition to being a total ripoff, Allan Peterson of The Grout Medic lacks integrity and practices bad business.  I would NEVER use him or his company again!
