We attended a sales presentation to learn more about the resort, but also because of the monetary reimbursements offered if we did so ($1000 pesos off room charges plus 10% off resort charges--with some exceptions). We have other valuable timeshares that we use and would never give up. We were interested in comparing what was offered, but we weren't naive--we expected a hard-sell, aggressive sales pitch--and got it!

The 90-minute presentation took 2 hours (sounds as if we were lucky!), but we knew we had agreed to sit through the presentations and did so politely with no complaint. We learned that yes, the sales people are there to SELL, and we decided we were NOT the "68% who sign up" after hearing the pitch.

But here's my real rebuttal to "workerbee." It's NOT greedy or stealing to take advantage of the "gifts" they offer. They don't offer them only to people who sign up; they offer them to you to LISTEN AND LEARN! Just because we decided it wasn't for us doesn't mean we are anything but wise enough to know what's best for us. We didn't waste the salesman's time; it's his job to talk to people. He KNOWS he won't sell every person he meets. However, the gig pays him enough to keep doing it without us, or he'd do something else!

Mayan Palace Timeshare Scam

AUTHOR: Becker79 - ()

POSTED: Monday, June 17, 2013

Feel happy that you didn't end up stuck with a wortless timeshare. Mayan Palace timeshare sales tactics are hardcore and they will tell you anything you want to hear to get you into the contract and keep you in contract with them, and of course, what they do is illegal. At first they offer the gifts just to "listen" the presentation, but then they tell you that you need to buy in order to get the freebies- what a bunch of liars!!
