I purchased a sphynx kitten from this breeder in 7/08. Sparing you all of the details, in 8/10 he was diagnosed with Moderate Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. So now my 2 1/2 yo boy has to take 2-3 medications per day to hopefully prevent him from throwing a blood clot and / or congestive heart failure, not to mention how is life has been cut drastically short. I have been informed by more than 2 sources that this breeder has admitted to NOT screening his cats for HCM. I just learned that my boy's litter mate was also diagnosed with HCM in 2009. This breeder does not mention on his website that he does NOT screen his breeding cats for HCM, therefore he is misleading the public about the health of his kittens. So anyone who is interested in purchasing a cat from this breeder, make sure he provides proof that the parents have tested negative for HCM.

Had Jerry been an ethical breeder he would have contacted the owners and advised them all to have their cats Echocardiogram conducted and possibly prevented the untimely death of their cats such as Kahne. Knowing that their sibling was HCM+ significantly increased the chances that the siblings were too. Jerry does not HCM scan any of his breeding cats and is breeding blindly and with total disregard for the lives in which he created. Hollywood Sphynx is known for his negative and hostile behavior. He has threatened several people I know. HCM is known to be passed as an Autosomal Dominant trait with limited expression. Therefore, only one of the parents need carry the gene to pass it on to their offspring. This disease is not caused by living conditions and there is no way Kahne lived in an outside environment as he is a hairless cat. Sphynx are not cats that anyone would allow to roam outside their home and are known for their need for human companionship.
Kahne was treated like a king in his owner's home with more love and warmth than anyone could imagine. He was seen by his vet frequently hence how his owner received the diagnoses in which took this poor boys life and cut it short. When HCM occurs its the breeder's responsibility to stand behind the health and life of the cats they sell for thousands of dollars to trusting owners. Jerry obviously has "NO" concern for the welfare of the animals he breeds, sells nor the Sphynx breed as a whole. HCM scan your cats Jerry Lynn Dean, stop ruining the Sphynx Breed with your Back Yard Breeding.

I worked for Jerry for 5 years. He treated his cats better than he treated me. This report was written by a bitter lady who kept her sphynx outdooors. She did a lot of careless things with him & that is what happens. Dont believe the hype
