I was on a Royal Caribbean Cruise Line cruise that stopped in Falmouth Jamiaca. I stopped in to the House of Diamonds, a Royal Caribbean recommended jewelry store. I ended up buying a diamond ring for $5,500. This was the beginning of an absolute nightmare.
When I got home I had the ring appraised, and during the appraisal the head of the IGI office said that I had been ripped off. The diamond was graded NOWHERE near the SI1 and G/H that it was represented as. It was an I1/I2, which I was told is so far off from what is was supposed to be that the only explanation is that it must be FRAUD. The color was also worse, H/I.
These lowlifes prey on tourists, selling them merchandise far below what is represented, knowing that most people will either never have it appraised or not push the issue to get a refund. I was told for the same ring I spent $5,500 for, I could have got it in the US for $3500-$4,000.
Larry Thakurani and Bobby (Bob) Thakurani scammed me. They lied about the quality of the ring. Bobby also ownes Colors Duty Free store in Ocho Rios Jamaica.
Do not shop here. Save yourself money and hassle and avoid this place and these con artists like the plague. This is a total scam, these guys have no ethics at all.
The company that works with Royal Caribbean and selects these scam jewelry shops is Royal Media Partners, founded by Philip Levine. They make a killing off commissions, and don't enforce the quality of the merchandise at the vendors they recommend.

I own a timeshare at Sandals Ocho Rios and have been shopping for diamonds and other jewelery with Larry and Bobby since 1993. Until my divorce in 2004 I visited Jamaica every May and September. I have bought over $100,000 retail value in diamond rings, necklaces, earrings, etc from Larry and Bobby. I have never once thought I did not get a great deal. When insuring my purchases the insured value was always well above the purchase price. I have sent hundreds of guests from my timeshare to House of Diamonds and have been told by Larry that my former wife and I resulted in hundreds of thousands in purchases by the people I referred to Larry and Bobby.
My former wife and her husband still recommend House of Diamonds to other Sandals guests and neither of us have ever been told by anyone that they did not get a great deal. The person posting the negative report must have had buyer's remorse after returning to the states because he had to have been pleased when he made the purchase. I suggest5 anyone wishinbg to buy any diamond jewelery in Jamaica to make the House of Diamonds their destination for quality, honesty and value. All you need to know is this scumbag grades his own diamonds! He doesn't use IGI or GIA, he gets the diamonds, and grades them himself. Of course he is going to give them a better grade than an outsider would.
Stay clear of this scam artist!

I have dealt with Larry at Hiuse of Diamonds in Jamaica for over 15 years. He may be one of the most honest individuals to deal with. He provides quality service and products that always appraise for more than sold. I am disappointed and completely disagree with this other individuals claims and assure you that if you would visit House of Diamonds and deal with Larry and his staff direct, you would find this man's claims to be fictitious and untrue.
