i contracted with hughesnet to install their system and get on the internet at a higher speed. a technician came out and put up the satellite dish, ran cable through the wall and attached the modem to my computer.

he could not get the modem to work or could not access the internet. he left.i call the installation company and they said contact hughesnet.

i contacted hughesnet both by e-mail ad phone asking that they fix their failure to connect me to the internet as promised. they stated "we will walk you through installing the modem etc.". i said I am not a technician and if they wanted me to install the system/modem then they could pay me.

hughes net has refused to install their system. i cancelled their service (?) before the thirty day "trial period" was up and was told "I" would have to packeage all their equipment and "I" would have to mail it to them (or be charged three hundred dollars for their equipment) within 45 days. (this along with the repairs on my house)

i said i would do so but i wanted my $203.00 installation fee back, as they had not installed their equipment as promised. they told me i would not get that back as they had installed their system. i told them i considered this to be "theft" as they had not installed it.

i would like to hear from anyone else with this problem with HughesNet and what, if anything, was done.

after talking to someone at hughes net and being told i had (finally) terminated my service (?) i was told that i would have to return their equipment. they advised i "insure" the package. that i use a carrier that i could "track" the shipment with ec. and do this all within 20 days "or else" i would be charged 300 bux for "keeping" the equipment!

enough already. first off i am canceling the card i used to pay them in the first place; second i may mail their equipment back in a brown paper bag. third i am going to see about filing theft charges or at the least file with the BBB. have to check out ripoff revenge too :)

right now i figure they owe "me" 203.00 for the non installation, a 150.00 for repairing the holes in my walls for mounting the dish etc. 50.00 for having to remove their equipment. 50.00 for mailing their sh-tuff back to them. and for aggravation, time wasted e-mailing them, calling them etc? (still debating, that could be punative damages i'm sure)
