AFTER BEING DISPATCHED FROM OXNARD CA TO CHELSEA MA WITH A LOAD OF STRAWBERRIES THAT THEY CLAIMED THEY DIDNT HAVE THE RATES ON THEY PAID ME 3700 ON THE LOAD WHEN I FOUND OUT C.H ROBINSON PAID THEM $6700 ON THE THE LOAD MY 72% SHOULD HAVE BEEN $4824 THEY SKIMMED $1124 OFF THE TOP.THEN THEY DISPATCHED ME ON 2 PARTIALS TO VA,& NC WHICH I WAS TOLD NOT TO INFORM THE BROKERS THAT I HAD ANOTHER LOAD ON THE TRUCK AND TO TELL THE BROKER ON THE 2ND LOAD I WAS DELAYED DUE TO A BREAKDOWN AND THATS THE REASON I DELIVERED LATE.WHEN I GOT MY SETTLEMENT THEY PAID ME FOR 1 LOAD AND AN ADDITIONAL STOP INSTEAD OF THE72% OF THE TOTAL OF BOTH PARTIALS.I WOUND UP GROSSING $700 FOR 700 MILES AND IN 2008 THATS RIDICULOUS.WHICH THEN THEY LOADED ME TO TEXAS ON A 5 STOP LOAD THAT SAID PAID $2300 TO THE TRUCK BUT WHEN I GOT MY SETTLEMENT THE NEXT THING I FOUND OUT THEY DEDUCTED ALL THE LUMPER CHARGES FROM ME BECAUSE I DIDNT GET THEM PRE-APPROVED EVEN THOUGH I HAD TO GET THE T-CHECKS FROM THEM TO PAY THE LUMPERS. SO AFTER TRUCK PAYMENTS AND FUEL I WAS LUCKY TO BRING HOME $722.18 FOR 5700MILES THATS .12CPM. NEEDLESS TO SAY I TOLD THEM TO ROUTE ME TO SPRINGDALE AFTER RECEIVING THAT SETTLEMENT WHICH NOW I AM BEING TOLD THAT I OWE THEM $$ AFTER GOING TO CA. FROM TX & BACK TO AR

I ran for a company that always used pencil (and white-out) on the pro sheet. Only when one of the more obnoxious drivers had the courage to ask the shipping clerk what they charged our so-called company for the load, did we learn how much we did not get.
What happened in this report is more common than we would probably like to know.

Assuming you can drive 5700 miles
in a week. Let's assume the truck
has a fuel range of 1200 miles.
Let's assume that these loads all
had single city picks and drops.
Lets use the 70hours/8day rule.
3 loads to pick and drop gives us
1.5 logbook hours for our example.
We realize that she probably needed
to log 2 hours in reality but we'll
let it slide.
The number of fuel stops needed
minimally to finish these loads
would be 4 with empty tanks at
the end. Once again we realize
that for stop locations and price
efficiency it would be likely 5 or
6 stops were made.
Now for basic mileage log times
We will assume 10.5 driving hours
in a 14 hour day and 10 hours off
exactly between each day.
Now, assuming the truck has a
top speed of 75 mph or more,
the average loggable speed in
most states is 73mph. In California
the speed to log is 53 at most.
Let's assume this week started
in california and that she drove
250 miles to get out there. That
gives us 4.75 log hours for Cali.
So day one has 5.75 left in our
average driving day. At our
assumed speed day one ends up
driving 670 miles.
On day 2 thru 6 would average
767 hours per day, totalling
3835 miles.
Add day one to the others we get
a total of 4505 miles in 6 days
using 63 hours to drive it.
Now we must find how much
On Duty time this driver MIGHT
have left for day 7.
Taking our previous assumptions
the driver used 1.5 hours for
Loading/Unloading and 1 hour
to fuel up during the week, we
add that to 63 driving hours and
find we've used 65.25 On Duty
hours in 6 daysand will add .25
hours for the final drop. This
gives us 4.5 hours to drive on day
7 in which 329 miles can be driven.
This gives us a grand total of
4834 miles.
Granted this is rough approximation
and I beleive plenty of the
assumptions made allowed for
more miles to be driven.
1 California may not have been
the only slow state driven in
2 Fast states that have some 80
mph zones prohibit commercial
vehicles from going that fast.
3 Fruit/veggie loads out of Cali
usually require 350 to 550
miles to get out and have
slow traffic in spots.
4 Depending on motors gearing
and load weights, it's still very
unlikely a truck will average
maximum speeds the entire
trip.
P.S. At less than 4900 miles
the driver would be forced to
shut down day 7 and would
not recover any hours on day
8.
In all likelyhood this driver
would get a 34 hour reset
about the same time any hours
could be recovered anyhow.
I personally never see how drivers
claim to get 5k to 6k miles week
after week legally, let alone ever.

#3 UPDATE EX-employee responds
5700 mile per week can be done leagally
AUTHOR: Hurricane - (U.S.A.)

5700 miles a week can be done legally only if the company and driver agree apone such a request. But in all respect it can be done legally with in the 70 hr rule averaging 11 hours a day take 5700 divide it by 7 and thats 814 miles a day which is an average speed of 74 mile an hour which in most western states you can log so yes it can be done and physically it can be done and by law under dot laws you have to log the speed limit and log legally by which and how and what you do each and evey day so all you trucking companys out there know you run legal and if you do not you must be very honest about your buisness practices.......... At 5700 miles a week in a lease you should bring home around 11400.00 at 2.00 a mile when you lease a truck and a driver makes 1.00 a mile and the company makes 2.00 dollars of that well the company is making of that 11400 approximatly 11400 and the driver 5700 which if the freight is paying 3.00 a mile the company is making off the top which is 17,100-5700=11400 the company is making a estameted profit of 11,400 off that driver when they are only paying him or her 5700.00 the company gets 11,400 the driver gets 5700 difference of 11400 in true fact how are you suppose to pay taxes for all expenses and bring in a pay check you go broke exspecially if the truck payment a month is 3000.00 and average fuel bill is 5000 to 8000 some bring home 1000 a month some 2000 some maybe 3000 what this comes down too is this company is making 110 % profit off the driver. I wonder whos doing all the work the driver or the company the driver with out the driver this company would not exist so all you drivers wanting to lease with these folks go right ahead and do it but the irs will ask you where is my part of that 11400 well ask the company................... all figures are an estamites and may be fact ......................................

#2 Consumer Suggestion
Cynthia, you CANNOT do 5700 miles/week [legally]!!
AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

Cynthia,
First of all, C.H. Robinson is all you had to say. You will NEVER make money with them.
Second, unless you are running a team operation, you CANNOT do 5700 miles per week legally, or even physically.
That is about 1150+ miles per day, as usually at the end of the 5th day you run out of legal hours.
You can drive only about 60 hours per week with the 70 hour on duty rule.
5700 miles in a week divided by 60 hours available driving time means that you would have to do a continous 95MPH.
Your story doesnt hold water.
And, why don't you verify your rate PRIOR to accepting the load?
Why not just refuse cheap freight?
YOU accepted the load, and YOU accepted the rate, right?
