These Guys are truly out to scam inventors out of their monies.  First they don't answer the phone.  So you have to leave a message. Then they call you back.  I asked them if they do Licensing agreements.  Oh yes we do  Okay then what are your fees  Oh when we get a Licensing agreement we get its 20% They then ask you for monies to get started.  I told Matt you get 20% when I get my 80%!  He said well we have to go to trade shows and market your product. Matt also said we have to have up front Moines as an insurance type deal because we are going to invest 100K of our monies to market your product. I told Matt I do that now I then asked him have you even gone to my website?  Matt said I have to submit this to a review board and they will decide to pursue this or not I asked Matt DID YOU EAT A BOWL OF STUPID THIS MORNING?  I left and told him to read the back of my shirt

The person who file the initial complaint saved his money

AUTHOR: Nick - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, April 09, 2015

You are right from one perspective: Generally speaking: "You can't have done by anybody, any work for free"... But, I suggest you to read what I have to say: I pay IRI everything they asked me, the research, to be found if anybody else has or had a similar invention, the Attorney fees for the provisional patent, etc. IRI representative, was extremely excited with my invention, promising all the good things: Trade, shows, manufacturers, selling the product etc. I completely agreed to pay them the 20%. Initially they told me that my invention have to be approved by a committee, thereafter, they have to find out if anybody else has or had filed a patent similar to my invention, they said that they contact manufacturers etc. I paid for that, and they said that nobody else filed any patent application in the pass, similar to my invention. That was to good to be the truth!

The truth is different though, then what they want you to believe. I paid over $14,000.00, and IRI did nothing for me!

These days, I received an email from my Attorney, stating that my original patent application is denied, because someone else already file a patent, few years ago, with exact description of my invention. I have no idea how I even got the provisional patent, if someone already did it previously. How or why I got charged from IRI to do the research, and as a result, they have told me, that we were good to go, because nobody else, never filed an invention like mine. Basically, it was a lie, for which I paid a high price. I made a huge sacrifice to pay the IRI that amount, for nothing.

So, yes, after all, the guy who turn the back to IRI, most likely followed his instinct, his intuition, and he made the right choice! Instead other people like me, they trusted IRI, they agree to pay them 20%, on top, paying all the required fees, and after all they just gave a big fat donation to IRI for several thousands of dollars, and in return, they got a brochure, that's it. A job, very nicely done, and they still in business raping off other customers.

My recommendation to all other customers, or I can say "Inventors" is: Try to do it yourself, find a patent Attorney who does all the legal work for you, find a manufacturer if the product it's too complicated and you cannot do it yourself, thereafter, look for someone who can advertise your product (or do it yourself) and sell it. Keep your money in your pocket, don't give it to someone else to get rich, on behalf of your hard work! Good luck!

Is your Invention worth anything?

AUTHOR: Poyzun - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, November 30, 2009

I think no concern to whether your invention has value has been stated. You cannot expect ANY company to just "go" with what you believe is a marketable product. They must do some investigating first - and that cannot be done for free.

With respect to their fee of 20%. The 20% is derived from your profits. You make money BECAUSE THEY went out and found a manufacturer that will take on a licensing agreement. You get paid, they get paid - ONLY for the duration of your first agreement.

Any other "up front" fee's are DEDUCTED from your first royalties so technically, it would end up costing you NOTHING if in fact your idea was market worthy to begin with.

A patent, with a patent attorney cost between $10,000.00 and $14,000.00 BUT they do NOTHING else.

I'm not sure what you expected this company to do for you. People wake up everyday with an epiphany of some sort with respect to inventions. Did you want someone to just do all your leg work and marketing for FREE?
