I rented a house from this man for a year in Mesa, AZ. When I moved in the house was trashed- I moved in March and there was a dead Christmas Tree in the backyard, as well as a broken dryer and the gate was held shut by a broken phone cord, there were holes in the walls and the medicine cabinet was ripped out of the wall.

We proceeded to fix up the home including repairing the gate, removing all debris that was left over, we tried to repair the fence that was falling over, put in a new ceiling fan because the old one quit(which was from the house originally), put in new faucets b/c the others leaked, new light fixtures b/c all there was-was a light bulb hanging out of the ceiling-backyard-hallway, put on switch plates-most didn't have any, repaired several holes throughout the house, put a new medicine cabinet in-the other one was ripped from the wall and put in an $800.00 patio, along with several other items. We did this thinking it would have been appreciated that we maintained the home. We were very wrong.

He is now telling us that he has to have the house painted because he had it painted before we moved in-which he did not. He is deducting all this stuff from our deposit and claiming that the "maintenance fee" does not apply.

This is a horrible man who appears to be genuinely nice and sincere, but turns around a lies and cheats you out of everything.

He would not even have anyone come and help with a severe ant problem!

My husband did a job for him and completed it, but he is stating that he should have done other stuff that is not included in the job he was hired for, now he is trying to deduct this from our deposit.

Stay away from James/Jim R. Harder-he will take everything from you and treat you like you are a horrible tenant!
