I have a friend that had a car financed with a balance of about $2000. She wanted a larger vehicle and went to the JD Byrider location on Dale Mabry in Tampa, FL. Her sales person was Solomon Jackson. Byrider's finance source CNAC called for a payoff on her vehicle. When they couldn't make a deal using her trade they told her to call her finance company and return the car!
She paid on her car for over 3 years and was always on time. These guys talked her into giving up her car, having it report to her credit and then sold her another car. All the Byrider ads talk about credit rebuilding...how does this help? How can they justify selling her a car knowing what she just did? Is business that bad that they need to resort to this behavior?
Sad and unbelievable - Stay away from this place - these guys are bad news!

Was the dealer wrong for suggesting she do a Voluntary Repo..Yes, of course.
However, they did not force her to do it. In the end it was her CHOICE and she needs to accept responsibility for her actions. Perhaps you can help your friend in another way for the future.

- Do you notice what you said? You said she "wanted" a larger vehicle, perhaps you should help your friend in another way by helping her understanding "want" vs. "need".
Also, if she had 3 years of on-time payments why was she even going to a Sub-Prime dealer?
