On the radio (92.3 FM in New York) I heard about the chance to win a free vacation package if I call a number (first 20 callers will be winners). I called the number and JD Reservation representative stated that I need to pay $399.99 to secure the vacation package and $30.00 to insure it. I provided debit card number and they charged me $429.99. Later I received email with invoice and details of reservation and it was clear that reservation includes many conditions about which I was not informed at the time of the call. Examples:
1) 5days /4 nights in a 1 Bedroom Condo accommodation for up to 4 people in Orlando, Florida (NOTE: CONDO AND NOT HOTEL
2) Gift- Will receive a Certificate to a 3 days and 2 nights Bahamas Cruise, for two people. All meals included, NO alcoholic beverages included. 1 year grace period to take the cruise after receipt of certificate.
Moreover, being package, no airfare is included which I was NOT told about.
I decided to cancel the reservation and invoice that I received stated:
Cancellations and Refunds:
- Packages with set reservations dates are Non-Refundable.
I called JD Reservations and spoke to Jacky (general manager of promotions). Initially she stated that purchase is non refundable. After I read for her their cancellation policy from the invoice JD Reservations sent me, she agreed that cancellation with full refund is possible but they will need letter sent to their office address (9501 Satellite Blvd Unit 101 Orlando, FL 32837) with written explanation of the reasons for my cancellation, copy of my photo ID and my signature. I told Jacky that I already sent a written request via their web site but, she told me they need a letter not email within 1 month after purchase (purchase date 11/26/15) per FEDERAL REGULATIONS. I asked Jacky to talk to her supervisor and she told me that the company owner is the supervisor and he is not in the country. I asked her to provide me with their license number to what she responded that does not know who they are registered with.
As a single mother of four, I am seeking any assistance I can get from a legal adviser (pro bono) be able to recover my funds and stop this company from ripping off anymore families.
