On 18 Feb 2011, I received a call from a lady by the name of Leslie from the Kennesaw, Ga Chase Auto Finance Office letting me know that I was at the end of my contract with Chase Auto Finance and I needed to pay a bolloon payment of $2500.00 which was still left against my contract and they needed it by 28 Feb 2011 or they would need to take action to pick the truck up. I couldn't believe my eras. I questioned the lady and explained that I didn't have that type of funds on hand and would need to make arrangements to pay this debt.
She said that this was not possible and since I had serveral late fees applied throughout the years of financing the truck that they may be able to knock some of the late fees off. I explained that my payments had been coming through a military/civilian fedearl allotment and this was not my fault that they were not pulling the payment on time. This was due to there error. She explained that since this process wasn't working for me I should have stopped the payment process and continued sending by western union which was costing me $35.00 everytime I would send. My Defense Finance Accounting Office pulled all records and faxed a copy to the Auto Finance office and they told me that this process just wasn't working.
So I called the manager Mr. Steve Topp and explained the delimma and he told me that this was true. I was at the end of my contract and I needed to closeout my account with chase by paying the account in full of $2500.00. In Sept 2009, I had attempted to restore my home and purchase new furniture since I was doing fairly well with my bills. Then in the month of August through November 2011 I was in and out the hospital due to sickness (phenomonia/pancreatis). I am stationed here in Georgia as a civilian with the military and have no immediate family and is forced to trust people that pretend to be your friend and family because I was so sick and unable to drive and take care of myself I trusted my neighbors who ripped me off cash of $1200.00 which I had withdraw from the bank to pay bills.
I had made a police report and had all evidence of this lost including my bank voucher and my household insurance where they only reimbursed me $200.00 This lost caused me to double over in bills for the month of December and make further arrangements for any future bills. I had over $100.00 in medication which was required. So in Febuary I thought there was a possibility that I would see the light with my bills when Leslie called from Chase Finance telling me of the contract closeout. This meant that I had to go further in debt to produce $2500.00 that I couldn't see. When calling Mr. Topp he allowed me to make arrangements that was acceptable to him to pay a payment of $866.00 the first two weeks and another $433.00 the next week.
This meant that I had to let a few bills go for a total of $1299.00 I paid in March 2011. Then 1 April 2011 I received another call from Ms. Leslie saying that I needed to make further arrangements because my debt was raising to $1965.00. I called Mr. Topp again, he expalined that he needed a full payment of $1300.00 now for the three deferred payments I had requested throughout the auto loan, again I explained that I would be homeless because I had other bills besides him. he then agreed to split the payment in half $650.00 one payday and another $650.00 this pay period. I just couldn't see paying this amount out of my payroll and maintaining a household, I would be homeless. I have nothing.
I can't even eat,gas is high and I live on the outside of town. How will I get to work however, I needed to pay them to keep the truck. Because, I had to let other bills go those people are calling me and don't want to hear this delimma, they are calling me. I had to let bill go to pay the other. I can't even pay my light bill. I have three grandchildren I take care. Who can just pay $1300.00 out of there pay check without other bills following. I have never heard of anything like this. You are at the end of your contract. I am not leasing my car, I have a 2003 Honda Element that I purchased in year 2004 through 2011. I have paid all of this money and now I am looking at losing it and I have come to the end all I owe is $1300.00 and no other arrangements can be made.
How am I to pay my other bills. I lay in fear that the will reposess my car any day because I can't pay a lump sum of $1300 or $650 as agreed. I fallin behind and don't want to file bankrupty. My bill collectors gave me a second chance. We the Government/tax payors just bailed GPMorgan out of debt and they are a rip off. This truck has been a living nightmare since the purchase. There customer service is rude and threatens you and speaks to you like a child with no since what-so-ever. I was looking forward to the day I no longer had to pay them. Inever ever want to purchase another car from no lender.

It just appears that your payment history finally caught up to you.
From what it appears you were late several times, and had a few deferrments. If you have late fees, then you are also probably being charged additional interest. The deferrments don't extend the loan they just "defer" it to the end. They also generally will still continue to assess interest, which depending on when the deferrment occured can be quite a bit of money. So obviously you had issues in the past and they assisted you, pehaps they should have just reposessed it earlier instead of giving you the deferrments.
The "they" didn't pull the money doesn't cut it. You could set up auto-pay through chase or your bank that has you specify when they get paid. If you couldn't get a regular bank account that may say more about your credit history.
It also appears that you have no clue about the Bankruptcy process. Because if you are thinking of claiming Bankruptcy for a single $1300 debt, who ever is giving you that advise is giving you very bad advise. First of all it is going to cost at least $1,300 to file bankruptcy. Then because the car is a secured debt where if you don't continue to make the payments due they can petition to court to reposess it anyways.
Inever ever want to purchase another car from no lender.
- That is the best thing you said, and if you had to learn one thing this was probably a good thing to learn. You should ALWAYS attempt to pay cash.
