I purchased almost $2000.00 worth of furniture from Kaeleen's in Phoenix. So far, there are a bunch of springs coming up through a mattress and a slat has snapped in half from my 4-year-old's bunk bed.
I called Kaeleen and she told me to bring the mattress to her. I originally paid to have it delivered and the store is about 45 minutes away. I asked if she could have someone come out and look at it instead. She told me that it wasn't her problem and to rent a truck and then hung up on me.
When I called her about the bunk bed, she told me to bring the receipt to her. I told her that I lived far away and asked her to work with me over the phone. She outright refused to help. I then asked to speak to her husband as he is the co-owner and she about accused me of having an affair with him. I then explained to her that I had problems last time I spoke with her and she hung up on me so I would like to speak to someone else.
Here are her exact words, "If I hung up on you before, it must have been some kind of misunderstanding...but I'm going to hang up on you right now." What a way to do business. Anyway, I purchased a foam mattress pad and went to Lowe's for a wood slat because I just don't have the time to drive all the way over there. I am also afraid of her reaction if I do show up. She seems like the type of person that will physically attack someone if they are in her presence. I have 2 small children that I would not want to witness something of that sort.
I have filed a complaint with the BBB and the Attorney General of AZ, but have not heard from either. That was 1 month ago tomorrow. I just don't want anyone else to purchase furniture from that store and become a sucker like myself. I thought that I was getting quality solid wood furniture and top quality mattresses at affordable prices. The bottom line is that I got overpriced junk.
Please, don't make the same mistake that I did. Tell all your friends and family and everyone you know not to shop at Kaeleen's furniture on Bell Road in Phoenix, AZ. Thank you.

#1 Consumer Suggestion
a little inside information
AUTHOR: Jane - (U.S.A.)

I have worked in customer service for several years I would like to give you a little inside information. I am unsure if they are selling new furniture, if so....
you could send photos of the mattress to her by mail or email instead of having to return the mattress to them for inspection.
You could also send copies of the photos and your letter to Kaeleen's to the mattress manufacturer.
As for the wood slat, you did the right thing by going to Lowe's they are very inexpensive and doesn't sound like enough to really worry about, why deal with so much stress when you could take the easy resolution and not have to deal with this person.
Whatever you do, try not raising your voice, accusing the person directly of something, and instead of talking to them directly mail a letter (be sure to always keep copies) that way if you need to take it further you will have documentation. I would suggest sending the photos of the mattress and a letter to both Kaeleens and the mattress manufacturer.
