KGB is a huge scam. My 12 year old son discovered the service in the past month and built up a big cell phone bill for me. I contacted the customer (dis)service department and got absolutely nowhere! They claim that they can block his access but not issue a refund as the service has already been used. I asked to speak to the person's supervisor and was told that he'd have to call me back. I asked her why she couldn't transfer me, and she stated it was because she has an IP phone, which is a huge line of bull. As an IT person, I know the inner workings of phone systems and IP phones. They are perfectly capable of transferring calls and in fact enhanced for that function. So, here I am waiting for my call back from Alfonso to see if I can recover my money that they illegally took. In the state of NH, minors are not able to enter into binding contracts. Anyone else run into this?

They might be a huge virtual sweatshop, but kgb is not the internet, and it's not a scam. After using the service a couple of times, I'm pretty OK with it, but they are still very expensive. (And what are they going to do now that people are buying phones that has access to google and the rest of the internet?) Now, they are a business, and they sell 'services' in form of information. Your 12 year old son did not go into a binding contract. You did, the moment you let him use a phone with capabilities he doesn't understand the responsibility for.
Let's say I give my kid a credit card. I give her the card for emergencies. You know, in case she gets stuck somewhere, or has to make a phone call, whatever. Suddenly, a bill comes and its several hundred dollars in clothes, make-up and other stuff with the name "Twilight" in it that I don't know about because I'm not cool anymore. What this shows is that she had a lack of restraint. But what's wrong with this? Right... I forgot to tell her NOT to use it for other things.
Just because something, be it a piece of technology or a piece of plastic, has the power to be flexible beyond what you want your child to do, doesn't mean that an entire business has to bend to your ways because they, or you, made a mistake. Granted, they should meet you half way. Give some of the money back as a form of goodwill. But there's a thousand PT Barnums out there... we have to deal with the PT Barnums because they offer services, we just have to be careful that we are not the suckers.
