I have never had an issue when working with designers/programmers until now. Working with LA Design and Coding was an overall catastrophic and terrible experience. No contract was signed (which was partly my fault) and I ended up losing my deposit to a programmer who didn't do nearly any of the outlined work that was originally discussed and promised. There were countless times where the programmer never met deadlines that he set himself, unorganized to the point where continually confused projects and clients... and the programmer even requested to be paid by gift cards and not a check because of some personal and divorce issues (no joke).

The worst was that I posted a project and outlined specific details (from what version of software I was using to what I specifically wanted to see). The programmer said he can do it in just three or four days looking & functioning to 99% of what I want.... and I believed him. He said he knows how to code for the version of the framework I wanted to use. But I later found out that he ASSUMED and he actually didn't know the framework I needed code for at all. So rather than coding for my project which was agreed upon, he was actually reading and studying the framework that I 'hired' him to code for. So naturally, he considered his self taught lessons and studying as 'working' on my project and was obligated to withhold the deposit. I disagreed because the project details were outlined clearly and he told me he knew the framework!

Being the nice guy that I am, I shrugged it off and thought that it was an honest mistake. But when he told me he'd finish my project in the next three or four days, it turned into three to four weeks! I didn't see a single bit of code or any form of deliverables for nearly a month! He was very difficult to get in touch with and would make promises he couldn't keep. For all I know he had spent my money and stopped working on my project. So in a desperate measure and loosing time I decided to end our working relationship and his business with my project (lost my deposit).

I have never complained about any company or person ever but this was the worst that I have ever seen. If you DO decide to work with them, which you shouldn't, make sure you draft up a contract with a deadline in place! This will protect you from a company or an individual taking advantage of you.

I have had the same experience as this guy: http://www.ripoffreport.com/programmers/la-design-and-coding/la-design-and-coding-www-lades-ec57c.htm
