I bought furniture from Modernage/Leath in December 2006 and did not want the extended furniture care as I was moving out of the area. The salesperson conned me into buying it by telling me that the company was going to expand/open a store in the area where I was moving. HA!
It turns out that the company already knew they were going out of business.
They sold me something fraudulently and deceptively by lying, and then failed to return the money when the appropriate and timely request was filed.
If I stole furniture from them I bet I would have been arrested and prosecuted, yet the company is allowed to lie in order to steal money from me and nothing happens.
Per information in Action Line in the Miami Herald today I have also filed a consumer complaint with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Consumer Services.
