I will never again spend my time and money at leon's ever again. Around the second week of November 08' I had bought a bedroom set (which was sadly from Leon's) that consisted of a dresser with a mirror, a nightstand, headboard, and a bed frame along with a mattresses. The representatives from Leon's said that when they come to deliver, the delivery men would fix the mirror on the dresser and attach the bed frame to the headboard.
When the delivery men arrived, they said if the representatives would have informed them that they had to fix the mirror on the dresser and attach the frame to the headboard, they would have brought the proper tools with them. In addition, there was no hardware such as nuts and bolts to attach the frame to the headboard. As the delivery men were leaving, I noticed a scratch on the headboard. Since the delivery men hadn't had me sign anything yet, I asked them politely to take back the headboard and have the people at Leon's exchange it for me. The delivery men were quite polite and did what I asked.
After the delivery men left, I went to my bedroom to fix the knobs to the dresser and nightstand. After searching for them for about half an hour I gave up and figured that I would call Leon's the next morning because it was be late and Leon's would be closed.
The next morning I rang Leon's up and told them about the missing knobs, nuts and bolts. They said they would send the knobs with the new headboard and asked me to purchase the nuts and bolts from any hardware store and they would reimburse me. I had also mentioned that they had forgotten to inform the delivery men about assembling the mirror onto the dresser and the bed frame onto the headboard. The representative said that she would make sure that they wouldn't forget to attach the mirror onto the dresser. I asked about the headboard and the bed frame and the representative said that Leon's doesn't do that. I told her that I asked the sales associate if Leon's provides that service and that he said that they did.
I also told her that I'm a single mother with no experience of building things and that if I knew how to put the bed frame and the headboard together the job would have already been done. After about 15 munities of explaining this to her she agreed.
One week passed and the delivery men arrived with my new headboard. They unpacked it and were waiting for me to sign the sheet. I asked them if Leon's mentioned anything about assembling the headboard to the bed frame and the mirror to the dresser.
Again, Leon's forgot to mention this to the delivery men surprise, surprise. As well, I asked about the knobs which still were not delivered. I also told them about buying the nuts and bolts, reimbursement, etc. One of the delivery men said that they do usually put the bed frame and headboard together because most customers do not have certain tools such as a clamp to put the two items together. They also said that the nuts and bolts I bought were not the right ones and that I should return them and get Leon are to send me the right ones.
Again, right after the delivery men left, I called up Leon's to find out what was going on. They said they were sorry and set up a tecnitions appointment with me a week from the call.
A week passed and it was the day the technician was supposed to be here. I waited all day, and at 6:00pm I got a phone call from the technician saying the weather was bad and he would come first thing the next day. I understood because there was a blizzard. The next day no one showed up and I didn't even get a call saying no one would show up.
I was getting really frustrated with Leon's and I called them up to find out if I was ever going to have my things set up for me. They said they had written up a new work order to put up the mirror and attach the headboard and the bed frame.
Today is December 23, 2008 and I called customer service again because nothing has been set up. The Leon's representative was very rude. All of a sudden it went from We are booking a technicians appointment for you right away to We are not responsible once the furniture is out of the store. I told the representative that I was fed up and I wanted to return everything. That's when the representative told me that Leon's does not have a return policy. I told her that the sales associate did not tell me anything about a no returns policy. If I knew that I would have never bought anything from Leon's. After arguing for a bit the representative just hung up on me.
My shopping experience with Leon's was the worst ever. On the Policies page of the Leon's website ( www.leons.ca ) it says If for any reason you're dissatisfied, we promise to do whatever we can to make you happy. Well I was very dissatisfied with Leon's customer service. Anyone would be after nearly a month, especially when they are trying to get everything set up around the house for Christmas. And they definitely did not do a thing to make me happy. Instead the people at Leon's made it worse by being rude and trying to blame some of the stuff on me.
Basically it's the consumers who are stuck with no help. What you get from Leon's is unreliable service, and rude customers service reps.
By the way, I still haven't received my knobs, nuts and bolts. My experience at the Calgary Leon's was the worst ever. Spare yourself the pain, shop anywhere, but DO NOT SHOP AT LEON'S!.

#1 UPDATE Employee
Delivery men are delivery men
AUTHOR: Mtbshawny - (Canada)
SUBMITTED: Sunday, February 01, 2009
I am a delivery driver for Leon's Furniture, and felt that on behalf of my end of the store...I should step up. As a delivery man, I am dead center between the customer and the company. I cannot in good conscience, take sides because I don't know the complete story, but I can confidently tell you this: When I leave for deliveries, I can have the truck packed solid. My boss schedules the start time based on the amount of deliveries I have, as well as the average time it would take to deliver the furniture.....Not to deliver and set up everything. If I were to both deliver, and set up an entire truck load of furniture for every single stop that I had....I would leave at 6am and return at midnight.
Try ordering a pizza or something and getting them to come into your home and put out all of the food and serve it to everyone. I don't think so. They step out of the car and hand off a pizza, and 95% of the time...They get a nice tip. I bust my back for people, and walk out usually without even a thank you. There are some exceptions to these rules though. If you require assistance, DO NOT take the word of your sales person, because they have no authority to make the rules. They have to clear it with the person in charge of scheduling deliveries. The reason for that is so the store can estimate the amount of deliveries to be scheduled for that day, according to what needs to be done.
Leon's doesn't manufacture furniture, nor do they box and ship them....They just sell them. I understand that things arrive damaged, or with hardware missing, but understand that these things are made and shipped from all over the world, so naturally it will take some time to order and receive them. Lack of communication happens too, especially when you have 4 or 5 people in between the customer and the delivery people. I know that it is wrong and not allowed, to hang up the phone on a customer, but I have actually seen it. In the situations that I've witnessed it....The person that hung up, had taken alot of abuse and swearing over the phone, and on a person to person level (Not customer to employee)....You wouldn't want to take it either. I am not saying that is what happened in your situation, because all I did was read your post on here. Also....The service technicians are not Leon's employees. They are contracted to work on behalf of the company.
