When car was first purchased salesman promised to locate the second set of keys and mail to us as we were moving out of state. Never Happened. Later denied he had made that commitment . Our cost for new set $165.00

Multiple trips to resolve engine light , multiple solutions , time and again battle to have repairs covered by Volkswagen warranty and extended warranty sold to us by Litha. Finally cancelled extended warranty as we found it covers practically nothing.

Finally right after vehicle reached 81,000 miles they told me the catalytic converters were shot and tried to get me to pay $4800.00 to get them replaced. Told me warranty was no longer in effect. That was 2 years ago 20K miles and 2 emission tests with PASS on first try.
Estimate to replace front brakes $1200.00 , Las Vegas Dealer quote $ 635.00

Sacramento Dealer quote $725.00 All quotes called out same part #s . Bought better than OEM parts and did it myself in 2 hours $250.00. Out of the numerous times the car was serviced by Lithia it was only ready 1 time when they said.

Rental was provided by Enterprise Rental next door volkswagen warranty was supposed to cover , Lithia issued purchase orders even made the calls to extend rentals when they did not have car completed on time. Yet they did not pay Enterprise therefore I ended up with having to pay the enterpise bill myself . After over a year of battling with one of the most arrogant General Managers I have had to deal with I got a check for 1/2 of the bill.

Enterprise informed me this was very common with Lithia and that the customers usually finally just paid it themselves while Lithia pocketed the reimbursement by Volkswagen. Which is probably true because Lithia reimbursed me with their check rather having Volkswagen reimburse me direct.

"Finally right after vehicle reached 81,000 miles they told me the catalytic converters were shot and tried to get me to pay $4800.00 to get them replaced."

This is a common red flag. I can't count the number of times that I've heard this one. The "bad news" always comes just after 80,000 miles. The reason : The federal warranty on catalytic converters expires at 80,000 miles. What a coincidence!
