Last year unforuntately the engine in my 2008 Z06 decided to throw a rod. It was a brand new engine, less then 300 miles on the engine. After getting quotes from several shops, I decided to take my car to Loud Pedal Motorsports in Tempe. I have dealt with other local shops, and had some issues, so I thought it might be good to try someone new out. They gave me a very reasonable quote, so I decide it would be the best place to take my car. I told them up front I would try and locate an engine for them to install in the car. They told me that was fine I could leave it there, and they wouldn't charge me any storage fees, etc. Some time later, and I finally find a builder willing to build be a great engine for a great price. I told them an engine was being built. During this time I bought a new mustang for the track and decide to bring that car in for some upgrades. They asked that I make the bill current, before they work on the car and I agreed. They even charged me storage fees, which even though they promised they would not, I still paid just to make everyone happy. They again assured me as long as the other shop was still building the engine, they will not charge me ANY MORE storage fees. I re-iterated that I would glady store the car elsewhere if it was a problem, they assured me it was not, so I left the car there. I took the engine builder a little over two months to get the engine built. I made sure Loud Pedal had the engine builders number, and could verify with them they were working on the engine.

I was in constant contact with them to let them know the status. They said everything was good on their end, and as soon as they got the engine they would put it in the car. They assured me AGAIN there would be no storage fees involved. Engine finally arrives on July 21st, 2010. I am very excited for them to get started on the work. They tell me they can have it in the car with in a week. After about a month, I ask whats going on. The tell me it will be done by tommorow. So the next day I ask them, they said it will be done by tommorow. I am told tommorow for over 5 weeks. Finally today 9/28/2010 I couldn't wait any longer, I figured 9 weeks, to put an engine in was too long. I told them I will pay them everything I owe them (which came to $3200, even though my original quote for removing and installing the engine was less then $1500). I had even already paid them more then half the original quote for removing the engine, when I had work done on my mustang. Mike (who runs the shop) then informs me that the owner is making him charge me storage. I asked how could this be possible when he assured me he would not charge me any storage, the previous owner assured me I would not be paid any storage as well. He told me its not up to him, even though he told me that the owner is making him. The owner even refused to get on the phone with me and discuss it. He told Mike to tell me to email him. This is after being lied to every day for 5 weeks straight about the car being ready the next day. I know shops sometimes have problems, and I tried to be patient. So now I have no idea what I can do. Its either pay around $7000 to get my car back. KEEPING IN MIND I GAVE THEM ALL THE PARTS FOR THE ENGINE. THIS NUMBER IS PURE LABOR. How much do you think an engine should cost to install? If anyone has any suggestions of what I can do to remedy this, I would love for your input. At this point I am not sure what I can possible do to get this car back. But atleast I hope everyone should know and be warned to watch out with doing business with them. There are plenty of good shops I have used in the past, that would not take your money. Keep in mind a shop apparently can make up any number they want to charge you. And unless you want to spend $5000 on a lawyers retainer, and months and months of your time. They can keep your car.

The Law

If your claim with this company is legit, which I tend to doubt since you say you have a lawyer. You would know that in the state of Arizona, a company does not have a right to hold your car as ransom for payment. I learned this from having my vehicle stolen by a tow company and the attorney general got involved in the case here in Tucson. Get a new lawyer!!!!!

Input from another Loud Pedal Customer

AUTHOR: DJ - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, January 12, 2011

I have been taking my Corvette to Loud Pedal Motorsports for various repairs/modifications for the last two years (ever since the car first needed work). I have found the work to be excellent and thecustomer serviceto be highly professional.

Over the last two years, I have had one negative issue arise (caused by an employee who is no longer there) and one misunderstanding about scheduling of work. In both cases, the management went far above and beyond what I expected to make it right and ensure I was satisfied with their service.

Based on my personal experience with this shop, I cannot imagine the shop technicians or managment behaving as described in this complaint. There is a lot more to this story than is being presented by this disgruntled customer.

i have been to lpm and met with the person in question and one other employee. as a fellow automotive technition i can honestly say i was extremely impressed with their profesionalism and honesty and this slandering dosent match up with lpm at all, i have shared clients with lpm and every one of them rate the total service with lpm "top notch 100%". this says alot in the auto repair/performance industry and shouldnt be taken lightly.

i will vouch for lpm and their work as a gm certified and ase certified technition. i would even go so far as to say these guys do better with the corvette and ls series line up than most dealerships if not all.

Character reference

POSTED: Wednesday, September 29, 2010

I am writing this in response to what this person has been doing to discredit Loud Pedal Motorsports.   LPM is what I've found to be one, if not the only, knowledgeable and honest shop I have been able to find to do work on my Corvette. I'm sure you know it is hard to find a shop with an owner and crew that you would trust with your automobile so I just want to offer my support for LPM in this matter. Though we know very little about this issue and this customer,  I feel it is necessary to offer my support to the character of this upstanding and honest business that I and many of my friends have had the pleasure of doing business with for over 2 years. I do not believe this story for one minute.  LPM will give you the shirt off its back to make each and every customer happy!

The Truth

AUTHOR: The Truth - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, September 29, 2010

As we all know there are two sides to every story. What this posters fails to tell you is this:

Car towed to the shop in pieces approx 2 years ago. the oposters has been selling parts off the car over the past two years. He just recently contacted the shop and decided after almost 2 years to fix the car.

He has gone to corvetteforum.com,lstech.com,arizonacorvette.com and slandered the shop in question without sharing facts. Is it unreasonable for an owner to charge storage not at all especially after 2 years. This gentelman does not share the facts and has the entire corvette community posting the truth everywhere in arizona.

This is a case of a guy who decided to not finish a project and when he finally came up with the funds figured he could just mosey on in and act like nothing had happen.

I have seen this car in person the past 2 years and will help LPM to the end in a slander suit or civil suit to put this liar to rest!

LPM was built for corvette users by a corvette user who was tired of the shotty shops in Arizona ripping people off!

LPM Wrongly Accused

AUTHOR: Montanavette - (Canada)

POSTED: Wednesday, September 29, 2010

This report is totally false and submitted by a consumer of little reputation.  The report is full of lies.  The "gentleman" who submitted this has spent the past few days slandering this company (LPM) on every site and forum that will allow him to do so.  I have had nothing but 100% service and satisfaction with my relationship with LPM.  Don't take his word for it just check out any Corvette forum.
