I bought a newer Ford van at a local dealer, as part of my purchase I asked for a transmission warranty. I use this vehicle for my company and I need it to be in perfect running order. I was sold a Lubrico Warranty at time of purchase we discussed details of what was required of me to avoid any problems, at that time it was agreed that changing the transmission fluid at the recommended service schedule would keep the warranty in place. About 2-3 months later and before the recommended service schedule the trans mission went. My first call was to Lubrico, and they said no problem bring the vehicle to a transmission shop that they recommended. About a day later I get a call from the transmission shop stating there is problem, Lubrico will not pay for the repair because I didn't supply them with receipts for oil changes done to the engine block. After speaking with a CSR I was told that they would not pay for the repair. I asked for some kind of reasonable answer to how engine oil could cause a transmission to fail, but they had none because any mechanic will tell you that it's not possible. The conversation ended with the CSR saying "theirs nothing you can do about" and then hung up. About 2 days later my vehicle was repaired and before picking it up I called back again to give them another chance to pay they bill, this guy John laughed at me and said "are contracts state if you don't change your engine oil you get nothing" and I hung up. I have a civil suit on the go and I have an excellent case I've had the oil tested, a certified mechanic will state engine oil will not cause a transmission to fall, the owner of the transmission shop will testify that the transmission failed at no fault of my own, but even with all this I'm still worried I could lose as this company does this all day long, and has the fine print locked up. Currently the bill stands at $2880.00 and I urge anyone considering this company to beware if they can stiff you they will, and a company like this is why a web site like this is needed

Oil changes

AUTHOR: Cassandra Myers - (Canada)

POSTED: Tuesday, April 17, 2012

Of course oil has nothing to do with your tranny .  However, had you taken your vehicle in for servicing/oil change, as per your contract, the technician would have checked ALL the fluids.  Had you done that, the transmission fluid may have been found to be burnt, or low.  An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!  That's why we insist on "oil changes" by professionals my dear sir!
