P in Dallas is 100% correct.
I recently had a client who had a new item on her credit report from LVNV Funding stating that the debt was from 2009. When I contacted them they assured me that they would send proof within 14 days.
Guess what, it never appeared and when I got my client to contact the credit agencies the item disappeared within 7 days and her rating climbed 22 points.
So don't bother contacting LVNV just get your credit reports and dispute the item with each of them.

CONTACT ALL 3 CREDIT REPORTING COMPANIES

This is one collection agencies have pulled many times ... contact all three credit reporting companies to see if they put it on one or all three. Write the 3 bureaus sending the letter disputing the information and send it certified return receipt requested and tell them you never applied for credit and don't know who these people are. The credit bureau must comply within 30 days ... and lvnv better be able to show documentation or you may be able to get them for fraud. they may be trying to "re-age" your account if you owed something and this is a quick and very dirty way to do it.
I am not an attorney and depending upon what lnvn says you might want to have a fireside chat with an attorney .... keep a log of all the things they are pulling. do no talk with lnvn directly.
