The magazine "Details" that I did not authorize was ordered sent to me by Magazine Publisher's Service, of 350 E Street Suite 300, Santa Rosa CA 95404. I was told by Subco to call 1-800-300-3604, which is the phone number of the Montana company America's Choice Readers Service, PO Box 89, Great Falls, Montana 95403.  That phone number is listed on several other complaints reported to ripoffreport.com.

I e-mailed Scott Sutherland, President of America's Choice Readers Service to have the magazine cancelled (e-mail:  scott...), and Jenny Cooper (e-mail:  customerservice...) answered my e-mail. She included the Magazine Publisher's Service Florida address in her e-mail, and she said I would not receive any more magazines or a bill. She said she put my name/phone on their "Do Not Call/Mail" list.

I hope that I will now receive fewer magazine telemarketing calls now, and I hope that the magazine "Details" that I did not authorize will stop coming to me also.

Throw it out!!!!!

AUTHOR: Anonymous - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, November 28, 2010

The simplest thing to do is simply ignore the situation----throw the magazine in the trash!

Keep saying "no" to any telemarketing or other telephone calls from this company!

Anything that you receive in the mail, that you did not order, is yours to do with what you want---don't know the # of this regulation, but the same thing happened to me, only it was "Sports Illusrated". The Post Office gave me this advice and finally they stopped 'hounding' me!

I did not place or authorize any magazine order.

AUTHOR: Angry in Houston - (USA)

POSTED: Sunday, November 28, 2010

I did not authorize any telemarketer to send any magazines to me.  I did not place any order whatsoever.  Every time a telemarketer called, I told them "No"
and in no way gave my permission for any magazines to be sent to me.  Telemarketers called me who claimed that they had recordings of me but they never would play them.  Two told me they were going to send me to collections.  These telemarketers hung up on me when I kept saying "No" and kept asking for the company's exact name and address.

I did not include that information in the original report.   Others had already reported telemarketers claiming to have recordings that they would not play.  Instead, I listed the steps I took to contact the company: Magazine Publisher's Service of the Florida address, hoping that others could make good use of the information that I had provided.  Apparently all that has done is to get me into a ridiculous conversation with someone who did not even read the first sentence of my original report. I will not be posting any more responses to any of that person's comments.

The following statement was the first statement in my original ripoffreport account:  "The magazine "Details" that I did not authorize was ordered sent to me by Magazine Publisher's Service, of 350 E Street Suite 300, Santa Rosa CA 95404."

This website labels the title as such..but I have no doubt to the legitimacy of your complaint.

It was simply a question. Do you know who authorized the charges for the subscription?

If you do not..there is a SERIOUS problem and concern that and you will continue for the rest of your life.. have unknown charges made to your account.

If it was yourself that authorized these charges by result of being suckered, KINDLY let others know so if they read this report.. they may avoid suffering the same fate.

Before posting a rebuttal you need to read what others have posted, what I found out about that phone number 1-800-300-3604.  The company is a telemarketing company that calls and asks if you have been receiving your magazines, and then claims you owe over $1000 for the magazines.

I had already received calls like that and been told I owed for magazines I did not authorize.  See the other reports about them posted at ripoffreports.com:  They keep calling you, they send bills to your credit card, and collectors call you too.  They claim you had to cancel within 3 days of "ordering".  I'm angry because I am one of their targets.

Rip off report did not include e-mail addresses I had reported.  I had to do a lot of research to come up with those e-mail addresses.  They are crucial to the report:  (President:  Scott Sutherland: scott@americanreader.com) and (Jenny Cooper: customerservice@magazinereaderservice.com). My e-mails to those e-mail addresses got this resolved, I hope, but I am not even sure of that.  Only the future will tell.

I don't fully understand the report..

..you seem angry about something. If they were sending you magazines for free, and you asked them to stop and they do..well you really have no complaint.

However, if you were being billed for a magazine you did not authorize, your primary concern should be who authorized the subscription.

They don't just guess your account info, someone with access to it has to submit it to them and authorize the charge. Do you know who that was? If not..you may continue to have charges on the account and not even know what it is for.

If you truly have no idea who authorized this subscription, aren't you concerned about possible identity theft? It is however unlikely that someone stole your card just to order magazines to be sent to you..but either way I would be concerned. Who else has access to the account info if you didn't authorize it?

If you were somehow suckered into this subscription, you should let others know how so they can possibly avoid the same inconvenience and charges. As well, someone may be able to give you advice on how to prevent this from happening again, and what to do if it does not stop.
