MagicJack says they can transfer (or "port") your current phone number. They can NOT port your number unless they already have exchanges in your city. They will tell you to keep checking back to see whether your number is available, but not very many exchanges are added each year.

You might end up paying phone company rates for years before you can transfer your number to magicJack.
