On April 29th 2011, we had packers, and the actual move date was the 30th, so we ordered two days of service. My husband works for CSC (DoD civilian contractor with 10 years prior active duty service) and lives in Afghanistan appx 11mos of the year, we have two young children.
There were some issues with the movers in general; such as no matter how much I asked them not to, using their pre-used boxes they could bill me for instead of the boxes I pre-ordered at a better rate, as per Mike's (the other guy in the office) suggestion. Spilling coffee on the carpet and not cleaning or saying anything about it, which we'll have to pay for. Literally helping themselves to whatever in the fridge and leaving the trash anywhere but in a trash can. Of course there were things that got broken in the move, though it was literally only across the street. Broken lamps, cracked mirrors, scratched wood.
But the main complaint was the damage to our LG blu ray home theater and master bed. They cut All of the wires to every speakers instead of rolling them (or asking me about it or to roll them if they didn't know how). They tried to tell me it was because they were stapled, but I personally installed it, and it was done with zip ties in one neat continuous bundle, not secured to or through or under anything (carpet, walls, etc). So I knew they were lying to me about them being too secured for them to just pack up. At the end of moving day, I noticed a large block of solid finished hardwood that is part of my bed was broken and splintered completely lengthwise, close to the junction of the footboard so that it has the potential to break if jostled (I have pictures of All damages and evidence for the claims). They tried to tell me it must have been broken before and just re-broke, then they said someone must have kicked it (pics will show that is impossible). It's very obvious that it was dropped or had another part dropped on it Very hard.
One of the first things I tried to unpack the next day was the living room entertainment for my kids, even though we couldn't use the speakers since we had no wires. They put the main unit from the living room in a box Under two old, broken CPU units from the shed without padding, other than a sheet or two of flat paper. The main living room box had been packed very well, I have photos of both for comparison. I watched how they slid the boxes down the stairs during the move, so I was instantly nervous when I realized it how much weight it was under, the force of the stair drops and lack of shock insulation. There were noticeable, deep dents. I instantly plugged it in, and it couldn't play any discs. It could recognize it, but not play. The day of the packing, the movers requested music, and I said so when I later made the claim and they tried to accuse me of it being broken already. I gave away a ton of electronics and other things (color infant video monitor, LCD computer screens, wireless keyboards and speakers, designer strollers and infant gear, even a shelf stereo system, and the list goes on) to the movers, if it were broken, that would have been up for grabs too. I called them and emailed a formal complaint and photos That Day. At first they said they knew a wood guy who could fix the bed and would send the Blu Ray to LG Factory for repairs and buy new wires, since it would be so expensive to actually replace the system (not that we asked them to replace it or pay for it).
A week later, they pick up the box. 5 days after that, they call to say they opened it themselves because they could hear a rattling sound and found a coin sized toy (it has happened before, we do have a 2 year old, its never had an effect and I've taken them out w/ no issue) so he just wanted to take it to a closer electrician instead of LG. I was upset that they, not the owner nor the professional without asking or notifying me opened my device after shaking it around for a week, trying to avoid the diagnostic and repair fees. They then sent it to a "friend" electrician who of course said it was the player, not their damage. When I told them that wasn't acceptable, they could send it to LG as agreed and if they deemed it my fault or natural wear down, I would gladly pay the fees.
They became rude and began to insinuate that we were just trying to get some kind of freebie, when they were the ones avoiding a measly $79 diagnostic when we just paid them $1900 plus tips. From there, they became very rude, and when I said I would post my experience everywhere I could if they didn't make it right, they took it upon themselves to misuse a reference and call them to say I was slandering them and they were paying out on a claim, both of which were completely untrue, since my experience is valid, I had yet to actually post any comments while waiting on the insurance, and they weren't paying anything. My reference called me and Joe admitted it in an email by saying "if you don't want it called, don't list it. you're right, you aren't slandering, you're online liable us" (he meant 'libel') after previously demanding "credentials" for my work and implying we were some cheap tricky folks. I had yet to post anything at all, since we started working with their insurance after I said I would post my experience. Even if I did, I tried to get them to understand that listing a bad experience is not equivalent to slander or libel just because they dont like what I have to say. They called my reference before I posted anything, and I didn't have any intent to still do so until they did that and then refused to even apologize for it. Thereby committing the very offense they were accusing me of, and going out of their way to do so. It wasn't about money, we bought a new system because they were taking forever and are paying out of pocket for the wood repair as well since they canceled it. The service, the attitude, the insults, the lies, were Absolutely inexcusable. They should not be operating in San Diego. Worst move ever, and we've moved coast-to-coast. I intend on notifying every affiliate and review board or forum I can. I have all proof, correspondence, photos, and original boxes.

#1 REBUTTAL Owner of company
Two sides to every story... Of course..
AUTHOR: Manpowersd - (USA)
SUBMITTED: Wednesday, May 18, 2011
As the owner of the this company, I would first and foremost like to say that we strive to make every move a stress-free positive experience. Our customers are consistantly reporting good feedback, which is why 80% of the moves we complete are repeat business and referral based.
As with every other "report" on this website, there are 2 side to every story...
Christiana Johnson indeed hired us 2 days before her move. We went out of our way to help her last minute, as moves should be booked at least a week out. Our trucks were already booked for the day, so at my own expense, I rented a truck to accomodate her since I knew no other company at the end of the month would be able to fit this move into thier schedule...
We packed her items on the 29th and moved her on the 30th... Our boxes are never "pre-used". We only sell new boxes. In fact if we have used boxes, we usually just give them away to people to help with the cost of thier move. Unfortunately, we had already given them to another customer.
After the move was completed, I always follow up with my crew and look at the customer satisfacion survey that is give to them when the bill is presented post-move. Not only did Christiana give us a "10" (1-10 scale, 1 being the poorest), she also volentarily tipped my movers. If there were any issues throughout the move, they were most definately not expressed nor brough to my attention. In fact, everything seemed great!
Here is where the scamming and lies come in... The "damage claims"... We always look into any/every claim that come to our attention. We have insurance as any professional company should have.
Keep in mind that Christiana purchased extra valuation, in which she would not agree to pay the $250 deductible.
Christiana says we cut her wires... Yes, my crew called me and said that all the speaker wire was attached to the floor and ran under parts of the carpet. Not sure how else to get those back, and Im positive she would want my crew pulling up carpet. The job supervisor and I just agreed to buy her new wires, and not make it an issue. Again, out of my own pocket...
My crew said the headboard we move looked as though it was beat on, literally.. Not only was the bed a marred mess, it looked as though it was repaired prior to the move day with some woodscrews. This was also brough to my attention and noted... The day after move, she claimed my crew broke the bed. In fact, it fell apart.. My crew did the best they could moving it and to keep it in-tact. When she claimed it was damaged by my crew, I decided to call a furniture repairman at my expense to fix the item, giving her the benefit of the doubt. My guys shouldn't even have moved it in the first place, so I was accepting of the loss on this end. The damage was also confirmed by my repairman from her pictures that the 2 screw holes in the side was a unprofessional prior repair job.
The Blu-Ray player was packed in a box with other home stereo components. There would be no reason to bring the CPU's in the house from the shed out back.. Nor would my crew bring the Blu-Ray player outside to the shed.. At best a staged picture for a damage claim.
With suspicion that the Blu-Ray claim was false, so I decided to do some preliminary investigating and send it to to C&T Electronics in Spring Valley (not a friend as she claims). When I picked the unit up, there was something loose rattling around in the machine. I removed 3 screws to see what it was, and there was a childs toy floating around in the unit (purple plastic balloon type toy). I removed this toy and replaced the screws. C&T Electronics diagnosed the problem as a burnt out disc reader. Not damaged by trauma to the unit, but by age. They also said that the drive unit in the machine is sealed unit, and that no toy could be put through the opening and end up in the back of the unit. The back would have to be removed. This arroused suspicion that the unit was opened before and someone tried to work on it. Easy to blame the movers for an already broken item, in hopes to get a new one. I have a full diagnostic report that says the unit was burnt out, not smashed (see attachment). I had them straigtend out the the metal which she said we damaged (again speculation).
Once this was determined, she became extremely upset and irrate. To alleviate further isses, I agreed to give her the benefit and pay for half the repairs since she didnt "trust" C&T's professional opinion. She wouldnt even call them to confirm anything as I encouraged her to do.
At this point, there are little options I am left with... I have offered to fix items I didnt we didnt damage, and buy new wires to save her time in removing the old ones from the floor. I presented the settlement to her, and she was not accepting of it. Instead, she continues to threaten and slander me, even giving her client phone numbers in an email to prove how "powerful" she was and that she could ruin me in some way. I called the owner of the magazine she works with, in which she said she would have write some article about us. I told him she plastering his number all over the emails. Obviously, he was upset to say the least, and didnt want anything to do with it.
Yes, after several treats of "ruining" me in some way, I have decided to end all communication with her. I dont feel like I owe her anything anymore. I tried to help in any way I could, expediting repairs, offering to pay half for the Blu-Ray player, fixing the bed, replacing wires. Yet, she still insisted that she was going to bad-mouth my company.
Yesterday 5/17, I recieved a call from her unstable husband in Afghanistan threatening to "stomp my head in". I have now filed a police report, and am fearing for my safety.
