Maytag licensed Fedders Co to manufacture a dehumidifer line (actually produced in China). The name brand in bold letters on the front of these machines reads "MAYTAG". Fedders is now in bankrupcy and upon calling the phone number printed on the dehumidifier (1-866-MAYTAG 1) I was dircted to a call center in Tennessee, apparently retained by Maytag, whereupon I was told that Maytag had no legal responsibility to repair my machine warranty or no warranty as this was Fedders legal responsibility. Not only was this a huge waste of my time but a public relations disaster for Maytag at least from this former customers perspective. This is a good example of a company with a name worth its weight in gold destroying the goodwill behind that name for not much in the way of money saved. Oh well, I probably won't be investing in any Maytag stock real soon either.
