McGeorge's Rolling Hill RV had an RV I was interested in (02/07/08) but I could not get to see it until the following week. The only way they would hold it for me would be to sign and fax a pre-sales agreement and let them charge $1,000.00 to my Advanta credit card. This would be refunded if the deal did not go through or applied to the down payment if it did. I had similar agreements with two other RV dealers but they did not require the credit charge or signed agreement. One other sale was canceled without a problem.

After completing these steps to hold the RV, I found out that the generator had over 800 hours of use. Both of the other RV dealers had bigger/similar RVs with 15,000 less miles and 700 less hours on the generator for the same price. This a major purchase and I plan on keeping it for 15+ years. It is in my best interest to buy the RV with less usage.

I called McGeorge's RV the Friday (02/15/07) before the scheduled Monday checkout/pickup to retract my offer so they could find another buyer over the weekend. McGeorge RV is refusing to refund my deposit even though it is in addition to the sale price they will be paid by another buyer. This $1,000 refund is small to a large RV dealer but a large amount to a person just trying to make a living. All they could offer me was to apply the amount to another RV but they had none that matched my requirements and price range. Please help get the charge refunded if you can.

McGeorge Report Update

AUTHOR: Grz1263 - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, May 23, 2008

I even tried to file a dispute my credit card company but they sided with McGeorge even though I was not told that the deposit was not refundable. I never saw the back of the form that said there was no cool-off period. The sales person only faxed me the front page.

I tried to get the amount as credit towards parts but they said it could not be done because it went towards their "prep fees". I could however apply it to another RV. The RV has since been sold and they charged the other buyer a prep fee as well.
