In October 2014, I bought a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze from a Chevrolet Dealer in Gettysburg. They financed me with Member’s 1st FCU in Mechanicsburg, PA. The dealer had me sign a general Pennsylvania retail contract and I took delivery of the vehicle two days later. About a week later I am getting a phone call from the general manager wanting me to sign another contract because the credit union has their own contract they want signed. I signed the new contract and went about my business. When it was time for payment to be due which was 14 days after the original contract was signed, I did not have the address to send payment to. The only thing that Member’s 1st had sent me almost immediately was a brochure to sell me more credit, which I was not interested in. I eventually got my payment book and was able to make November’s, December’s and January’s Payment . At the end of January a tow truck hooks up to my car and he leaves.
My parents and I were confused as we have no idea and never got any notice of a late payment from the Credit Union or intention to repossess the car. Once we called the credit union they were very nasty to both my mother and I saying that they did not receive the first October payment or the January Payment. We have proof that we sent in the January payment and way before the due date. They also claimed to have sent three certified letters and five phone calls which they never sent. The October payment must have been missed in the crossing of the paperwork when the car was purchased and the second contract was signed. I would have made the payment up if given the opportunity. The credit Union told me that the car was taken to Virginia for auto auction and that we would not be able to reinstate the loan or get the car back unless we paid the balance of the loan in full. The second lady who was a manager was even nastier and said that there is nothing to be done and we were finally able to talk to the vice president of lending who also went off what her employees said. She said that the January payment had not gotten there and she would wait to see if it did before reinstating the loan.
The next week we called and she said they did not have it and there is nothing to do but proceed with the repossession. We offered to take the money they claimed to be missing for payments along with late fees and repossession fees. They did not want to do this but she went ahead and let us if we added repo and late fees. We took them over one thousand in cash. Once we made the payment they did let us have the car but they went ahead and cashed the January payment they lied about not receiving causing our bank account to be overdrawn. They also lied about the cars location and it was not taken straight to auction. I was without a vehicle as well as very stressed and anxious. STAY FAR AWAY from this bank. There is class action lawsuit against them for the same shady practices. Do not let them take advantage of you.

Actually Members First has a class action lawsuit settlement for this exact reason. http://www.members1streposettlement.com/ People's First just settled a case Debra Hockenberry v. People First Federal Credit Union. Same reasons. They do shady things. Stop blaming the victim.

They did not send info in time for there to be a payment made. Do you not see it as shady that they held a check that they claimed they did not get? How about they wanted payment 14 days after original payment? They also did not mail any letters which is required before they can proceed with a repossession.

Here's what's SHADY. It was YOU who missed the very first payment by your own admission here. If you have all this wonderful proof, then get an attorney and the case should be very easy for you to win. However, I don't suspect you have the required proof and you were late for the first payment and who knows what else.
Let me save you the trouble...don't bother saying it, I'll tell you right now, I don't work for them.
