Here is my situation, and while there is probably nothing that can be done about it, I just want to spread word around like so many others are doing about the rediculous laws, especially in Michigan.
When I was 19, police came to a party at my friends house because of a fight that had broken out. Those of us that didn't run off into the woods were all given breathalizers and charged with Minor in Possession of Alcohol. I basically got a slap on the wrist with 25 hours of community service and a STOP class that took up a few hours one Saturday.
About a year later, 3 months before I turned 21, the cops showed up at a Halloween party at my apartment. They were called there for loud music, which for some reason took about 8 cop cars to tell us to turn it down... Again that just stormed into the house without our permission and began conducting breathalizers. My 2 roomates were 21 at the time, and were charged with Furnishing Alcohol to Minors. The rest of us got MIP's.
Being in Troy, Michigan, where everyone in the judicial system has a school bus shoved up their a*s, I didn't get off so easy this time. I recieved 18 months of reporting probation with random drug tests, an IMPACT weekend for Alcoholics, and substance abuse counseling once a week. And all of the costs on top of that. Mind you that the adults that "bought us minors the beer" didn't get hit half as hard.
So I am currenty fulfilling my probation requirements, except that I missed a counceling meeting, which they tacked on 3 more months of probation for. i was doing ok until last week.
On my way home from a party at my friends house, (about an hour from my house), I was pulled over on the highway. I wasn't speeding at all(kept cruise control 2 MPH below the limit) and I wasn't swerving. They officers never gave me a reason why they pulled me over.
As soon as the officer (who was a sexy female cop) came to my window, she said "I smell Marijuana, where is it?" I replied that I was just at a house where people were smoking, but she didn't buy it. She said to get out so she could search the vehicle, where she found my pipe and a small bag of reefer. I was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, which is a violation of my probation. Now I probably face jail time, but I'll find that out for sure tomorrow hopefully when I go for my arraignment.
Now I know that there are going to be replied saying that I broke the law and that's that. But seriously, who gives a f*** about marijuana. It is proven to be less dangerous to your health or ability to drive a car than alcohol, but since alcohol is legal, it's ok to use. If the court system seriously has nothing better to do than ruin a engineering college students life by sending him to jail for weed, then they should all burn in hell. Potheads are the most non-violent people, we don't steal or hurt other people, we just want to chill out and have a good time. I see denver finally came around, and it's only a matter of time before the whole country does, so tell me, should I sit in a jail cell for 90 days.
If I had my way police wouldn't be able to pull people over. Their duty is to protect and serve. Not protect me from myself, protect me from thieves and killers. Get a life you losers, all cops probably grew up getting picked on, so they became cops so they could wear a faggy mustache and take their anger out on regular citizens. They are not higher than us, they are people too, and no person should have any more authority than any other person in America. If you don't agree with me don't bother replying, I am looking for support, because I know I'm not the only person who hates cops and knows that this is not the way our forefathers intended this country to be.

I hear ya!
AUTHOR: Miss Pac Man - (USA)
SUBMITTED: Thursday, December 03, 2009
They are a**holes. I'm related to the last rebuttal, by the way. They spend their wholes careers running around worrying stupid stuff that just makes them feel better. Then they wonder how anyone could be so terrible by pulling out a pistol and blowing a couple of them away.
And it's not to be mean. If you want in to a church, you expect to get preached to. If you walk into a bar, you expect someone to try and pick you up. If you walk up to a car and stick your nose where it don't belong the you might expect someone to blow your head off.
At any rate, they suck and Troy cops are some of the worse.

What can I say?
AUTHOR: Michigan Legal System Sucks - (USA)
SUBMITTED: Tuesday, December 01, 2009
Yeah, everyone is probably right. I guess the only thing I can add is that Troy cops are some of the worse. If I told you half the things I went through as a youth growing up in Troy, you would consider yourself lucky.
Most cops are complete and utter a-holes. I'm a middle age man now and I still get stupid calls from them about dumb stuff. When you get a little older, you get a little smarter at learning how to deal with them.
These are the same guys that we went to high school with that were a-holes back then. Now they're just 20 years older, working on their 3rd marriage, alcoholism, and risking their life for a crappy paying job and a bad haircut. That's why they were stupid back 20 years ago, that's why they are still idiots. Crime is down and they have nothing else to do with their time.
It's nice to hear about some of these arrogant little bastards getting blown away from time to time. I can hear all of the negative feedback coming back to me already. " I can't believe that guy said that."
I call it like I see it. 90% of what cops do now-a-days has absolutely to do with the 'greater good of society'. What do they really do?
They are writing up a $100 ticket to a little old lady that just didn't see the traffic light she just went through. OR hauling some 45 year old business executive away because him and his wife had a tiff and she said that he 'brushed' by her accidentally. Or the young kid that had 4-5 beers even though the selfish bar kept serving him drinks after he grabbed the waitresses a*s not once but twice. In other words, the bars have no problem serving the booze but the customers pay the price.
Or they call you on the phone, trying to be a tough guy, because your girlfriend told the police that you are harassing her, not telling them that she cracked up your new car and stole $3,000 out of your checking account.
No, I'm not talking about myself but this is what cops do. They have very little purpose in our society. It's just a free pass to go out get drunk, ride their motorcycle home and when THEY get pulled over they flash their badge three times on the way home. Then beat up their girlfriend to the degree where they really SHOULD go to jail but, because they are the police, they will just get another free pass.
This is what cops are all about. No, they're not all like this but most are. But as long as the government wants to pay these a-holes to be a-holes, then nothing is going to change.

Four years have passed, and cops still have those mustaches
AUTHOR: Tim - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Saturday, October 10, 2009
The report was written four years ago, when the OP was a hopeful 20 year old college lad.
I hope things have turned out well for our young friend.
The lesson to be learned from this is simple: if you're going to break the law, and believe me, virtually everybody breaks the same laws as this kid, DON'T be a dumbass about it.
So you're 20 years old and you want to have a few drinks with some pals . . . keep it small and quiet!
So you like to hit the the ol' pot pipe every now and again. Great! Just do it IN YOUR HOUSE and keep the sh*t OUT OF YOUR CAR! Cops hardly need a reason at all to search your car and if they think you've got dope, they WILL find it.
Four years later, the "faggy mustache" remark still makes me laugh. Hey fuzz: what the hell is up with the mustaches?
But you know who's got even worse mustaches: the COAST GUARD. If you ever want to see some silly, outdated facial hair fashions, check out a Coast Guard base.
Best regards to all!

Is there a lesson to be learned?
AUTHOR: CustomerServiceGal419 - (USA)

When reading your posting all I can think is "get a clue!" If you don't like being "busted" then stop breaking laws. One would think that would be common sense. Did half your brain disappear too from all the drinking and smoking?

Some friendly advice
AUTHOR: Timothy - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Sunday, November 20, 2005
I think Mike gave you the best response, Brandon.
Does pretty much every young adult drink before the age of 21? Sure.
Is weed relatively harmless? You betcha.
HOWEVER, there MUST be laws against underage drinking, and there must be penalties in place to make those laws effective.
The drinking age is set quite reasonably. Teenagers and young adults are morons. They make stupid choices and have delusions of immortality. Add alcohol to the mix and you have a deadly combination. End of story.
AND, even though I'm with you on the marijuana laws, the fact remains that it IS against the law.
The police are just doing a job; it's not their place to question whether laws are "good" or "bad."
The courts must deal with the law as written; in the eyes of the court, a law is legitimate so long as the proper procedures are follwed in its enactment.
And again, Mike gave you some good advice. But let me reiterate, lest you spend the rest of your life on eternal probation:
1) If you're underage, and you must drink, do it QUIETLY! DO NOT get behind the wheel of a car! DO NOT advertise your drunkenness by being loud and beligerent!
2) If you're on probation, DON'T DRIVE AROUND WITH CONTRABAND IN YOUR CAR!!!!
Can I stress that point enough? YOU WERE A DUMBASS FOR DRIVING WITH WEED AND A BOWL IN YOUR CAR!!!!
Buy your bag, take it home, and DO NOT take it out of your home. And NEVER EVER drive around with weed and/or weed paraphernalia.
And, at any rate, you should NEVER drive intoxicated in any manner. I know you think that weed doesn't impair your driving ability as much as booze, and you're probably right, but all it takes is one good dupe-out to plow through a crosswalk full of kids.
Best of luck to you. Stop worrying about how the law is B.S. and start worrying about how you can keep yourself out of trouble.

Drinking before you're 21? Do it quietly.
AUTHOR: Mike - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Friday, November 18, 2005
You must know that every other loud party in town gets the same drill with the ID's and the breathalizers. So if you're at one of those, don't have a drink in your hand. If you live to be 21 and decide to throw a party, make sure no one underage is drinking there.
Most police nationwide are real prudes about marijuana. And the laws are there to back them up. You've already used up any favors you may think you were owed by the justice system after the alcohol incident. So don't be driving around with contraband.

'so tell me, should I sit in a jail cell for 90 days.'
YES!!!
If you continue with your present attitude, you're going to spend the majority of your life in Mio. Or if you continue your penchant for 'adult beverages' without becoming one mentally, you'll end up at the southeast corner of Crooks Rd. and Long Lake Rd. For those of you not familiar with the area, it's the location of a historic cemetery.

Brandon Life Sucks But It's Your Choice How To Deal WIth It
AUTHOR: Annie - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Friday, November 18, 2005
Brandon,
I know you don't want to hear this, but your problems are **your** problems. You created the situations that you now face. If you don't want to live by the rules, that's fine, but don't whine about it afterward.
You choose. You knew the risks/rewards of not abiding by the rules. If you were willing to celebrate the rewards of the system (i.e. partying with not getting caught for violating your parole), you should be willing to accept the risks (i.e. the price of getting caught).
BTW, you totally pissed off about 51% of the US population by referring to a female peace officer as a "sexy female cop." Conversely, would you describle any of the male peace officers you have come into contact with as "hunky male cops?" I think not. The officer who pulled you over deserved better. I'm only guessing, but possibly your attitude toward her contributed to her attitude toward you.
So, Brandon, grow up, take your lumps and move forward. You can't change the past but you can affect the future.

Where did you get this information from?? If you are stoned, does that make you a better driver? Dont air out your dirt laundry in the public it only makes you more stupid than you already are.

Stick to the rules
AUTHOR: Jennifer - (Algeria)
SUBMITTED: Thursday, November 17, 2005
Hey dude, we all know the rules can suck sometimes. A little pot ain't so bad. But really, if you're already on probation, it wasn't such a hot idea to have pot in the car now, was it? Next time (and it sounds like there'll be one), when you're on probation, hold off on the pot till you're not.

YOU COME HERE AND BLAME THE POLICE? HOW ARE THEY AT FAULT?
AUTHOR: David - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Wednesday, November 16, 2005
well you did break the law. with the drinking under age and you broke the law for prosseing weed in your car! and your on probation probly part of your probation not to get in ANY TROUBLE.
SO THERE FOR IF YOU GET JAIL TIME THATS ON YOU, AND YOUR STUPID MISTEAK YOU MADE WHEN DRIVING under the influnce OF A controlled substance.
SO YOU COME HERE AND BLAME THE POLICE? HOW ARE THEY AT FAULT?
YOU WAS AT THE PARTY DRINKING UNDER AGE, AND IT WAS NOT ONCE BUT TWICE. THEN YOU GET CAUGHT WITH A controlled substance IN YOUR CAR. SO ITS YOUR FUALT NOT THE POLICE.

You can't be serious
AUTHOR: Mike - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Wednesday, November 16, 2005
What are you complaining about? You admit that you broke the law, several times. You lament that the police 'stormed in' and 'searched your vehicle'..........being that you admit guilt, it sounds like they have good reason to watch you.
Come on, only someone completely wasted on pot would come up with "oh, its not my pot, I was with some friends and THEY were the ones smoking" excuse.
Probably most everybody has drank underage or smoked a little weed. And you are right, it really is not a big deal. But it's still illegal, so GROW UP. Don't whine about getting caught and getting in trouble for it.
