On October 13, 2009 I ordered a one-year subscription to the Economist as a gift for my grandson. The magazine was never received. I followed instructions on the web site (which guarantees satisfaction) and e-mailed their help desk numerous times but received no response.
I attempted to call them by phone but you can't get through. I then faxed and mailed a letter. No response. I then contacted the Better Business Bureau in their area who attempted to contact them numerous times and then gave up.
I am now filing a complaint with the Kern County District Attorney's office (KernCountyDistrictAttorneysOffice.org) after seeing how many others have been ripped off by this internet company. I encourage anyone reading this who has been similarly ripped off to file a complaint; if the DA's office receives a sufficient number they will be in a better position to prosecute.
