OOP'S, Shaun did it again. Somebody please kick me in the butt for not checking here first before doing business with these people.
On 4/3/06 I did a search for a 3.9 Doge Motor for my '96 Dakota. I got several quotes back, and guess what?, Mid-City had just what I was looking for, 43,000 miles, all tested and ready to go for 745.00 including shipping. I placed an order for said motor on 4/4/06. (check by phone
When I did not receive any conformation on the Faxed Shipping Info/Check Conformation Forms on 4/6/06 I got nervous and checked the company out on the Milwaukee B.B.B. website,(not good), and on Ripoffreport.com,(even worse).
I decided I did not want to deal with this company at all, and called them in the afternoon of 4/6/06 to cancel the order. I got transferred to Shaun Brayden, he said he turned it over to the Business Dept., and they would take care of it. When I asked about my refund, he replied, I got nothing to do with it, and they would take care of it

When I asked for a direct line or an ext.# for them, he got real ugly and shouted, 106, then hung up on me.
When I called 106 that afternoon I got Shaun again, (surprise), this time he seemed really pissed and yelled, I told you they'd take care of it, they will probably send a check on Friday, (4/7/06).
After countless un-returned calls, and 3 word sentence responses to e-mails, they sent me a check for $375.00, that's $2.50 more than half of what I gave them. GOOD SCAM Shaun!
When I e-mailed them, questioning the amount of the refund, I got a response telling me about their 25% cancellation/restocking fee. Good scam # 2.
On 4/24/06 I filed a complaint with the Milwaukee Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection.
I laid low for a couple of weeks, while I talked to a Lawyer and found that it would not be cost effective to take him them to court. Even Small Claims would mean time off from work, and a five hour drive to and from Milwaukee. Shaun and the rest of his gang of thieves realize this and are laughing all the way to the Bank.
On 5/8 I decided to try to get the other 25%, or $183.75, that he still owes me.
I composed a very sarcastic e-mail, walking him through the math (He will call you back only if you piss him off). The response to my e-mail was interesting to say the least.You are correct, we made a mistake. We will refund the difference. Five minutes after reading this response my phone rang. It was one pissed off Shaun Brayden. He had no clue what the order had been for, or whether it was a cancellation or return. He flew into a tirade. I just listened, until he called me a, stupid Jethro Bodine from Michigan.Then I slipped up, got mad, and called him a Fuc&^%$ scam artist. Nobody wants to hear what I heard after that, (I think he was s****.>

In 34 four years in auto salvage industry I have seen lots of changes. But nothing like al and shaun or asap motors in tx to sell consumer bad product just to get their money and not to give refund or try to make it better. Well sorry to say we are most best people to make things correct but there is people that dont have a real salvage yards even they claim they do and put pics on inter-net to claim they do. Well thats easy way fool people. So douglas you need to check who you dealing with and get a breath of fresh air while you dealing with a real auto recycler

Jay, feel bad for the rest of the "industry", not me.
It's people like Shaun and Al that give you and the other honest recyclers out there a bad rap.
Of course Mid-City, or Midwest, or (whatever) aren't going to screw you...THEY NEED YOU.
Remember this, some day, you, me ,Al, and Shaun are going to have to "Stand tall before the man". Trust me, God will sort us all out.

AS a person who has worked in this industry for 34 years I feel bad and I have sold them lots of parts and never had a promlem with them but when I read whats going on.
Got to say al and shaun are not been honest with you and others so what i am saying is i do not know them as my friends but yes I have sold the parts and the parts I have sold them was sold with 6 month warrantee so what ever they did after the purchase from me or the others we have no knowledge what happen so I am speaking for auto salvage industry in this country please dont think cause of them we all are bad cause we are the best and hell with the rest cause we are all the american ty
