I am going to make this short and sweet. In trying to purchase a house I received my credit report, I noticed that this company, Midwest Savers, put a collection against me for services that I never used and asked them to be release me from. Less than a month after I signed with them I was searching the web and found out that Midwest were a ripoff. When I called and asked them to end the contract in which I took no part in except to give them a down payment, which I never received back, I was told by one of their employees that it was not their problem. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, they hung up the phone. Now they appear on my credit report demanding money for a service that I never took part in. I don't feel I should have to pay for a service I never used and one that they did not lose anything from. They actually gained $150 from me.

#1 UPDATE Employee
Did you read the contract??

If you read the contract you signed, you may have saw the place where you initialed and signed below that reads "I understand this is a non-cancelable contract." If you did not understand, perhaps you should not have signed. As far as not using the service, it is not the company's fault. If you bought a new corvette and parked it in the garage after making the initial down payment, you cannot seriously expect to blame GMAC for your not driving it. The service only works if you use it.
Of course you feel like you're not saving any money if you never come down to purchase things. If you didn't see the part of the contract that said you cannot cancel then you probably didn't see the gaurantee that states you will save the cost of your membeship back by the time you've spent $5,000. I'm sure you spend more than $5,000 a year on "stuff". Everyone I know does this. But all that aside, you are an adult who signed a contract, and the adult thing to do would be to make the best out of things and USE THE MEMBERSHIP. You made a financial obligation. If you were not prepared to make such an obligation, once more, you should not have signed a contract.
