What was emailed to me once I accepted pet sitting position:
"informed that you would be getting an upfront payment for the first week from my company before I start caring for the bills myself. A Check will be sent to you by my company and then the Check will be in excess amount, after receiving the Check you are to deposit the check and get the cash, then deduct your fee for a week as we have agreed on and wire the rest of the funds to the property agent in-charge of my furniture and fittings. I hope i can trust you with Zeus and count on you as regards the payment.
If so kindly get back to me with your mailing information"
I checked on Google to find out this person uses story of moving and needing help, then company makes error and sends triple/tens time the amount.

I experienced a similar scam. Scammers will hit on anything they think they can get money out of people. I spotted it was a scam after 3 emails but continued to communicate with the scammer while I contacted the web site that he/she found my contact information christian john <christianjohn508@gmail.com>was my scammer, of course that email address could also have been hacked.
I also notified every pet sitter in my area to make them aware of this new scam. Please do the same in your area. I had a co-op of pet sitters so it was pretty easy to get the word out to quite a few.
The check would have been fake, good job in spotting the scam quickly. My best advice is to contact the ISP that provides the email address to have it removed (Yes, they will investigate and remove the address) and if you are friendly or have a pet sitter forum in your area to get the word out. It may not stop them but will sure slow them down when more people are aware of the scam and demand the ISP remove their email addresses. Best of luck with your biz, Pet sitting is the greatest job on earth!
