After we switched our television, Internet and telephone service from the Optimum package to Verizon, we received a "final service call" from a Cablevision representative. He said he was here to disconnect the cable that came from the pole on the street to our house.
He spent about 10 minutes at the junction box and left.
As soon as he was gone, we realized that our TV service and our Internet service were disconnected. I called Verizon, and they confirmed that they were unable to communicate with our router.
I called Cablevision, and they said that they may have cut the wire, but if they had inadvertently cut the wrong one they would replace it. They said that a technician would come to investigate.
Before he came, I went and looked in the junction box. A "locking terminator" had been installed between the incoming cable and the splitter inside the box. This is a device that is designed to be removed only with a special tool. I replaced the entire splitter, and the service came back up.
I was later able to remove this terminator from the splitter, and on examination I saw that the inside wires had been removed, and replaced with a rubber plug.
I called Cablevision and cancelled the service call, telling them that if a truck showed up on my property I would call the police and file a complaint against them for trespassing. During this call, their automated voice response system confirmed that indeed an appointment had been made for this disconnect for this date, December 15; hence the technician that had come initially was a legitimate company representative.
I can see no other possibility other than that Cablevision went out of their way to install a device designed to interrupt my service, that would be difficult or impossible to remove without a special tool or a service call from Verizon.

Dave Is Right Cablevision Are Idiots

Thats basically what Cablevision says. They are arrogant morons that think they can do whatever they want when they want. What the customer that started this complaint said was 100% true. When Cablevision purposely removed 25 channels from its basic service package in 2009, they did this purposely to try to corner the market because they are greedy SOBs. They convinced a non computer savy person they needed the Optimum Tripple play and charged all kinda of fees. Needless to say, there was already another account in this house already had an internet account with Optimum. So this is how it goes.
The second they put in the unncessary 3rd line for internet, they started cutting cables in the house, disconnecting and destroying the optimum online account that was already in place. So the same day the Tripple Play was installed 2 hours later it was ripped out of the wall and given to their technican. So a service call was placed and it was scheduled for the 4th of July. So another dumbass field tech from optimum came in, and pretended to do work, he was told 7 times to leave the house immediately, and he refused. It was to the point where we were calling the police and like the guy said arrest this assxxx for tresspassing. Needless to say we fixed the problem and canceled the service call prior to the 4th. Then he again refused to leave until we signed the work order for his so call pretend work so he could get paid time and half for working on the 4th of July.
So it gets better, without permission without any requests from us, another moron a subcontractor from Cablevision comes onto the property without permission and without ringing the doorbell to say he was coming on the property. Starts spray painting our driveway with permant paint they use in Utility type work on the road. 20% of our drive way has yellow and orange paint not to mention our entire lawn. We tell him to leave immediately, but he refused again saying he had a right to be on our property without permission and vandalize our property. So luckily we took pictures and had basically wrote everything down word for word he said. Cablevision took no responsibility for it whatsoever, typical arrogant asses they are.
So three days later, another idiot subcontractor comes in and starts tearing up the side of our lawn putting in the cable for the so called 2nd line. Mind you the first technican was told to leave and do nothing, again >zero
So we had enough, we contacted dish network and had satelite tv put in. But we still had the internet package. So i come out the shower turn on the TV works fine, I go down stairs internet works fine, then all of the sudden everything goes dead. Call support 3 times and they denied everything trying to tell me that there was a problem with something inside my house. I corner the person into admitting some person came onto the property and did what the guy said. Not even knowing he killed the internet service, stupidity, thinking that he there's two accounts. Was there on the phone for an hour 1/2 and they refused to accept responsibility for what they did. Ontop of that now we have to wait another 2 days for those morons to come out there and fix it. Now for for the next 3 days I have to run a computer based business on a 26.4k modem which has to service as both my internet connection and my line (which is verizon).
Cablevision is blind imcompetence that no matter how much they screw up, they are arrogant asses that will inconvenience you and will do nothing to take responsiblity for their actions. When you call their support center, they will try to convince you that its a problem with your house and have a technican come out to your house and in most cases anything inside your house is billable. They will make you believe everything else except what the real problem was, something they did. Cablevision can make up any excuse they want for the problem, because they control everything from a center, they can disconnect you instantly from their main office, they can tell if your cable modem is online or offline. Put simply, Cablevision knows immediately what the problem is but they wont disclose any of it to you, unless you do computers for a living and have a CCNE in networking. Before they will admit the truth to you, you have to corner them. They figure 99% of their customers are old and computer illeriatate and will use that to tell you anything they want you to believe.
And for those employees responding back, look at their arrogance, like I said, they think they can do whatever the hell they want. Obviously they are going to bash verizon because they once held a monopoly NJ and NY, now they have competition, instead of treating their customers better, they are crapping on them. Dont believe any Cablevision moron period.
After all that complaining for an hour and 1/2 the support technican had the xxballsxx to say, "please take the survey at the end of this call and rate me on how we treated you."

A few years ago, I was unable to connect to the cable internet while watching cable tv, I called your company and they told me 2 different LIES about why...
1. It was the splitters fault.
2. I needed a new modem, which I had to pay for.
Neither solution worked... Why?
It was because at the time YOUR company reduced the strength of the signal, THAT is why I couldn't use my internet unless I was right on top of the main cable line, you didn't tell anyone, and then about a month or so later started trying to sell people The Boost service, where we had to pay extra for the full signal strength.
Scum!

Shame on you Mr Dave from Freehold. Do you really think a company that is heavily governed by the FCC could do such a thing a get away with it? Does that make sense to you? Alot of costumers say well I'm contacting the FCC & every other kind of official...but keep in mind that Cablevision cannot do anything that was not approved by the same people you want to call to complain. Just to sum things up...hey Dave see you when you come back to Cablevision....Verizon's service is not what it's cracked up to be.

So to confirm, what you are saying is in addition to removing Cablevision's owned line, we also placed a locking connector on a splitter that was installed by Verizon?

I completely understand that Cablevision would want to retrieve their cables, or cut them whether on purpose or inadvertently, expecially if they are being used by the competition. This is not what happened.
In our case, a device called a "Locking Terminator" was deliberately installed on the splitter on the incoming connection to our house. The "Locking Terminator" is designed so that it cannot be removed without a special tool, and this particular device had the inside wiring removed and it was PLUGGED WITH RUBBER!
There is no way that this is not a deliberate act of sabotage. We were here when it happened - the man came to the door, said he was here to remove the Cablevision wire; he spent ten minutes at the box and the connection was IMMEDIATELY gone. No wires were cut. No wires were removed. As soon as I removed the locking terminator (which I had to do by replacing the splitter), the connection was restored.
I would be interested in hearing what "Mr. Cablevision" (employee) has to say about that, once he understands what happened.

Our Cable wires !!

We "Cablevision"can and will cut any and all wires that belong to us. Most of the techs for the other providers are lazy and will use the existing wires from us "Cablevision" so when we go out for the final disconnect or quality control we will remove "our" wire since it belongs to us and not fios, directv,or the dish. So if we see fios is still using our wire we will remove it and if we cant get on your property then will cut it from the pole and lock our box!
