Horse was advertisied on her website as a healthy three year old Kentucky Mountain horse.
I paid her and arranged transport from Onieda, Tn. to Las Vegas, Nv. by a licenced reputable transporter.
When I recieved the horse it was obvious that he was not well at all. Had lump on rear hind quarter and acted very lathargic. The transporter replied he never wanted to go back there, it was so dirty and there were a lot of skinny sick animals.
I had the vet check him the next morning and he diagnosed the horse with Black Leg Disease, which is not from our area.
By the next morning the horse suffered an awful death.
Upon reporting this to Val Moody, the woman that sold me the horse, she absolutely took no responsibility.
I was out the price of the horse, the price of transport and vet and burial expences. And had no horse for all the money I spent.
Not including the heartbreak and devastation I and my friens went through.

sorry to hear that you also have been a victim of Val and Donnie Moody. This happened to me also a year ago. I am still trying to recover from my loss.
Like you I trusted these people also. They had a great web site, good looking family and were school teachers! How could you not trust them. I learned my lesson the hard way. Won't be that trusting ever again! I know there are more of us out there to who got taken advantage of. They to need to come forward.
I also have posted my story and what happened to me on this site. I am glad this site is here and I hope many people see it for our sakes and the horses! They don't deserve to be put through so much pain! They depend on us!

Why would you purchase a horse without actually seeing him first? I feel sorry for the horse and encourage you to contact the state of TN (the state Vet's office can point you in the right direction), file a complaint and request that this "farm" be monitored for treatment of their animals.

Regarding the sick horse I recieved from Mountain Ew Farms/Val Moody.
I was told by another vet that the horse more than likely had Tetnus, which I can believe, hearing about the filthy conditions in which the horses had to stay in. And by the healing over cut he had on his right rear hip.

Your Vet has told you wrong

I am wondering what kind of Vet you took this horse too. First of all there is no such thing as black leg in horses. Black leg is a decease in cattle and cattle only. I have raised quarterhorses for well over thirty years and also cattle. Cattle have to be vaccinatied for black leg. if not and your cattle somehow contact it yes they will die. I would advise you to do a search on black leg and find out for yourself that it only affects cattle and not horses. I would also look for a better reputable equine vet that knows what he is doing.
