This is a very VERY similar account from Jun 2008. I suggest you read this to supplement your research on MTD Model Management.

The Story:

Got an email from MTD MM saying they found my profile from one of their lead resources and wanted to invite me to a closed audition. The phone number to confirm was (210) - 745-5808, and audition dates were the following Sunday (at a hotel lobby), and (at the agency) Monday and Tuesday. Red Flag #1: They are doing business on a Sunday at a hotel, but legitimate agencies only operate M-F 9-5pm in their office.

Went to an audition, met a nice and charismatic person named Kurt Clement. I filled out a form, showed him my pictures, and walked for him. He said to call him back later, then he'll tell me if he wanted me. Red Flag #2: From my understanding, agencies usually tell you immediately if they want you or not, instead of making you wait.

I got a second audition, came back to the agency (Red Flag #3: which was just this one tiny office in this HUGE multi-story building. The office looked new and not well established) Met this lady named Elkie Jiensen and talked business. She wanted $800+ for me to get new photos. I said I didn't have the money, and after a some persistence, she finally dropped that. Then she said that in order to upload my pictures on the MTD MM website and maintain it, I had to pay $300/yr. I had to pay the website maintenance fees first, and only thereafter would they consider signing a managing contract with me. (Red Flag #4: This sounded illogical and wrong to me, but I didn't have enough background knowledge to back me up.)

Other things of shadiness:
1. They supposed branches in many states EXCEPT California, the entertainment capital. (Maybe because CA has more strict laws and regulations against scams)
2. BUT I had to deliver all checks and money to this address: 1800 Century Park E 6th floor, Los Angeles CA 90067. The same as former Model Management Inc
3. They had only been established in Austin for 2 weeks, and the people were staying at hotels. Which means they can just pick up and leave soon.
4. Their model management contract form required my Printed name, signature, SS#, and address. but THEY did NOT have to include an address, full printed name, or notary of it.
5. There was no address on any of their forms
6. They don't have business cards, a local telephone number, or photos of their models in their office.
