I purchased a combination medical savings and insurance plan for myself and my children. I explained to the NBAA representative exactly what I was looking for; that my childrens doctors must be part of the network; that I did NOT want a medical reimbursement plan I wanted a co pay at the doctors office.
I was assured that Baylor and the pediatrian were part of the NBAA network, that there would be no out of pocket at doctors office visits, that this was NOT a reimbursement plan of any sorts.
On 9/9 I took my child to the doctor. Baylor and the doctor have never heard of NBAA, are NOT part of the network, and would not file anything with TransChoice under this "policy" that I have paid $389 for. I was considered self pay. Which I did at check out.
On 9/10 I called customer service to cancel the "policy" and membership as I was told I could do within 30 days of signing up and be immediately reimbursed for the fees. The representative told me that first I had to mail all the paper work back to Fort Worth, the main office, before a reimbursement could be started. That it would take 30 days to have the money refunded. That when I use policy I had to file with Transamerica and that I " just did not want to file like I was supposed to"!
When I told her that the whole plan had been misrepresented to me, she got rude and said it was just company policy and I "just didn't want to do what I was supposed to do". Well...no I don't want to file for reimbursement. I told them that from the start.
In the end, she hung up on me. I then called the Fort Worth office and was of course told the same thing by a sales supervisor. I will be Federal Expressing my forms back today. I don't know if the membership is cancelled but I do know that I do not have insurance nor do I have the money back.
Be careful, this looks like a internet/telemarketing scam to get self employed people involved in a plan that looks good but you don't get what you pay for. The network and the type of insurance connected with it were totally misrepresented.
