Neighbors Moving And Storage In South Florida Liars, Extremely Deceptive, Hidden Fees, Extremely Foul Language in the company of children Ft. Lauderdale Florida

I wish I had checked the ripoff report website BEFORE I hired Neighbors Moving and Storage for my recent move. I see there are numerous similar complaints posted here. Nothing was broken or lost in my move, however I found this company to be highly deceptive and very foul.

When I called for a price quote, I spoke with Tatiana. After going through a very thorough and exhaustive moving checklist (ranging from major furniture and appliances all the way down to bowling balls), I asked her what the total "out the door" price would be. She quoted me $104 per hour and 8 hours worth of work (including travel time). I figured this was a accurate quote based upon how thorough the checklist was.

To reduce the number of hours, I personally moved over 250 boxes myself, so the movers could focus only on furniture and appliances. Long story short ... it took them 8 hours to do what it sould have taken a real moving company about 5 hours to do. I moved all the boxes for them, however I guess they were trying to meet the 8 hour goal they had established for themselves.

The first hour into the move was going great and I mentioned to my wife that if they work like this all day, it should only take about 5 hours. But guess what ... by the 2nd hour they slowed down considerably, took 15-20 breaks every hour and even stopped to make cell phone calls to set up other moving deals while I was paying them by the hour to move me. Many times they would go sit in the truck and smoke cigarettes until I would find them and ask them to get back to work.

The best part is the $200 worth of hidden fees that was not disclosed to me when Tatiana gave me the "out the door" price. They called it a fuel surcharge fee, which by the way, was already factored into my quoted price. When I questioned the fee, Anthony (the lead guy) told me that it was too bad and "if I didn't like it that I could call the owner who wouldn't give a s**t anyway, because he already owns most of south Florida when it comes to moving", and my complaint wouldn't hurt their business at all. Anthony went on to say that if they disclosed this "hidden fee" over the phone that most people would hang up the phone and call another moving company so that is the reason why they do not disclose this fee up front. Needless to say they probably don't let Anthony answer the phones because he discloses all of their deceptive business practices. Another reason why they probably don't let Anthony answer the phones is due to his vulgar mouth - see below ...

And the best part is the vulgar language that my children were exposed to by the movers during the day. Not that my kids are nosey and regularly listen in on adult conversations, however I can say the profanity was hard to miss based on the volume and frequency of use.

Based on this experience I would not recommend Neighbors Moving & Storage to anyone. These are "neighbors" that no one would ever want.
