Not three hours after I reported being a victim of a scam by another telemarketer, along come these guys. Since I wasn't feeling well (darn allergies), I didn't feel like working the scam artist too hard today (my form of revenge is to waste their time, lol).

The call was the 4th from LGS (per the "terms" link on the web site). Smarting from just learning I had been scammed by Oxford Financial, I immediately went into interogation mode. This guy was slick, and had all the answers. Unfortunately, the answers were all lies.

First, I asked if this was for an unsecured credit card, which it was (true, sort of). Then I asked where the business was located, and was told Florida (lie, the number is in Brooklyn, NY). Then I asked if this was for a VISA or Mastercard, and was told they had "many credit rebuilding offers from which to choose" (lie, they only offer a catalog card). Then I asked for a web site, and was referred to www.newcreditfinancial.com. I guess he didn't know I was on this site already, and had just finished a quick scan of all the complaints against NCF.

Here comes the real scam.

He began to pressure me for a checking account number. He said he needed the information in order to "verify" the account, and that under no circumstances were they going to charge me anything, another lie. They would have pulled $300.00 out (if I ever got that much all at once, lol) according to the "terms" on their web site.

This guy lied as to what was being offered, lied about his location, lied about the costs entailed, etc. Feeling another sneezing and coughing fit coming on, I told him I wasn't interested, at which time he simply hung up on me (before I could on him, lol).

After I hacked up a lung and sneezed in Technicolor (tm), I searched their web site. It was by shear determination that I found LGS in their terms of service page. No other information references them, nor is their any way to contact them via the site. I called the following numbers which appeared on my caller ID from them -

347-394-1403, 1413, 1415, and 1402.

Of course, no answer at any of them. Figuring this was a "rotary strap," I tried 1400 (that would be the main number) and got a recording saying the number was invalid, but it wasn't the standard recording for an inactive or DC'd number.

How do I know it's a scam? No one in their right mind is going to give me an unsecured credit card. The only reason I haven't gone Chapter 7 is because I can't afford the filing fees! My FICO would actually improve if someone stole my identity, or if I managed to clear bankruptcy. I am unemployed, have worked several jobs in the last few years, many unpaid bills and judgements (mostly medical), etc. I'm amazed when someone lends me a pen! I'm not a total deadbeat, but I do have serious credit issues. That apparently is enough to make me a target for these scam artists.

A word of advice: Stick to credit cards issued by your own bank. If they won't issue you an unsecured credit card, and they know you, what makes you think some stranger on the phone will?

Oh, and btw, NCF aka LGS allegedly pays these "telemarketers," aka affiliates, $45-$100 for every successfully scammed customer.
