I went to Nu Way trucking back in Oct. of 2009 and graduated with little to no help from the instructors.  The best instruction I received was from the DOT testers in Rolla, MO  These women should be commended for the assistance they give and the relaxed environment created which I believe is why I passed.  During my four weeks at Nu Way I never drove on an interestate or made a left turn.  They literally, try and give you, the skills needed to pass the test only.  My road test was so nerve-racking that again if it wasn't for the testers at the DOT, Rolla site I wouldn't have passed.  I was observant to dope smoking during class, threats of gun violence by black students and when I reported it I was looked at by the instructors as a "snitch".  I think this was due to me also reporting how often I observed the intructors exchanging phone numbers with female students under the guise of "academic assistance".  I never was found a job by the employment section of the school and actually could only get in a few times to see her because she was never at work or was outside smoking.  I had to contact schools on my own and when I told them I was a new graduate, they told me to have Nu Way contact them.  I never heard from any school again that required communication with Nu Way.  The instructors at the school only had to be certified thru a internet site, I can't tell you if these is normal or not.  I do know that all of them had real life experience trucking but again I don't know if the certification was extra or required.  They all wore uniforms and looked somewhat professional.  The truck yard itself was a mess.  Holes everywhere, dirt yard with traffic cones that were brown.  The trucks were awful, dirty and in some cases completey unsafe to drive.  The testing trucks were ok but still embarassing to travel in because of how dirty they looked.  The financing is outrageous and the money you first make in the industry doesn't pay the bill let alone suitable for a family man.  Finally, I was only able to find employment with CRST out of Cedar Rapids, IA and I can't say enough; DO NOT WORK FOR CRST EVER!!!
