"Don't let Old Dominion trucking and freight company take you for a ride too!"
NOTE: This page is not owned or endorsed by Old Dominion trucking and freight company. I am just a unhappy customer exercising my right as a citizen of the USA to complain about a company that I feel has ripped me off in May of 2001. I will be happy to challenge anyone who plans on taking away my right as a citizen of the United States of America. I have served my country in the United States Navy and I have no plans on backing down on this issue. I have been stolen from and I am pissed!!!
Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
We had been doing business with this trucking company for several years. We were happy with the freight service we received until recently. We had a shipment coming from one of our computer vendors in California and expected to pay our usual $100.00-150.00 for shipments of 400lb to 600lbs. We were floored when one of their rude executives called and informed us that our shipping charges would be $657.69. They told us that the shipment was classified as business machines "complete computer systems, class 200" The shipment was empty computer cases with no motherboard, modem, memory, hard drive, floppy drive, cd-rom drive, etc... and have a wholesale value of about $40.00 ea. This is crazy and un-heard of. Now the cases we purchased have a wholesale cost of $65.00 the cost we sell them for. The cost of shipping should have been class 65 or $180.47. The additional charges added $17.00 per computer case. I will remove this complaint page as soon as Old Dominion makes good on their quoted rates for our shipping charges.
They informed our supplier that they were going to keep their goods and charge them $10.00 per day for storage unless they paid them the cost of the goods "that was theirs to begin with" plus the above amount for shipping. The only reason I paid the unreasonable and inflated shipping cost is because it would have injured or cost our supplier and would have cost more do defend my rights than what it was worth in time and money to defend. I am a person of principals and honesty and expect the same when doing business in a free country.
A Note to ODFL: Do right by your customers and feel good about your company. Do wrong by your customers and find complaints on the internet and by word of mouth. Please do not try to play round about games and involve my backbone provider in a civil matter of freedom of speech. You made the wrong choice in ripping off this customer you must now live with the consequences of an unhappy customer and their freedom of speech.
Creath Jarrell Creath.Jarrell@odfl.com a rep for Old Dominion Trucking Company feels that Freedom of Speech is an Illegal practice. Freedom of Speech "is" still legal here in the USA so if they want to squelch their unsatisfied customers they better re-locate to Cuba, China, or North Korea where practices of this nature are the norm and are not protected. That is about par with the way they bill their shipping jobs then offer to auction off their customers goods unless they pay 4-5 times the quoted rate plus $10.00 per day while they argue with them about why it is ok to do so.

SAME POOR SERVICE

I have had two experiences with Old Dominion. The first time they called and set up a time for a delievery, they did not show up or call. I had to call them and told them I would pick up my delivery at their terminal.
They then decided they could bring it over. When it arrived it was damaged from falling over. This time I oreded something to be shipped by Old Dominion, I was given a tracking number.
I called and was told my shipment got lost and was sitting on a dock in Virginia. A couple of days later I got a call and they said they would deliver my order on Friday between 10:00am and 2:00pm.
I waited until 2:30pm (making me late for work) and again no show, no call. Monday I called and told them my shipment had not arrived, but on their web site it showed it had been delievered. After being placed on thold the person came back and asked if I would be home today(Monday).
At no point in either incident was I given an apology or garuntee it would be deliever soon. There was no sense of urgency at any time. Just poor serviec from a "I don't care attitude company."
