phising free ipad give away; PlayStation give away; Amazon giveaway; offerhotspot.com; google image search; facebook scam.
I was doing a google search for images and I clicked on an image that looked like a product that I was trying to identify. It is a simplex valve and I thought the image bore a likeness to the one I had in my hand. I got a series of redirects click-throughs and popups. Ultimately landing on a page that looks very similar to Facebook, they even went as far as to have testimonials that they receive their goods did look just like Facebook postings and news feeds. I was informed I am a winner...phone vibrated...pop-up msg and audible alert.. I now could have a $500 Amazon gift card a Sony Playstation or a air pad because it was Wednesday and I was some special random visitor, or some thing like that - I don't know. I do not fall for these scams I just wanted other people to be aware that you need to look very closely at the domain identified in your browsers URL - in this instance it was Facebook.com-application.Com. The page is ripping off the likeness of Facebook as well as ripping off their name and ripping off the very nature of the Google image search I believe. We could also implicate {oneclickads.Net} and {com-application.com} which was all part of the browser hijacking automated click-throughs and popups. I do not understand why ICANN cannot shut them down or some government agency. They have an address... they register several domains ...at in the end they're claiming that you just have to do surveys there not anybody has to get you to come to their website that way.. Not an honest company. Anyone that has to fake you out making you think you're on Facebook is trying to steal from you or trick you to do something other than what it is you thought you were doing ..don't be dumb and you won't get taken - be informed. If you're doing a search for an industrial component and you end up a winner on facebook randomly.. use your head you don't belong there you hadnt intended to go there and Facebook is not just going to hijack your browser.
