March of 2012 I found myself, a ASE certified master mechanic with 20+ years experiance, with auto repair parts problems.  One was when ordered repair parts would arrive at my shop, 6 out of 10 were boxed wrong, broken in the box, were cheap aftermarket replacements and didn't fit or wouldn't work. So after one really bad parts day I started looking for a parts house that I could depend on. My mistake starts here, I was friends with someone who worked for Kragen Auto Parts now was O'Reilly Auto Parts, he suggested I do business with them. What can I lose I thought? Was that a mistake! After speaking with the manager of store #3788, we agreed to terms of business that included labor warranty for parts that I received from O'Reilly Auto that failed after being installed. We signed a business agreement and started doing business. I want to state here that in the 8 months I did business with O'Reilly Auto, I did $46,000 worth of business in that time.

The frist few months there wasn't one complaint about O'Reilly Auto but that was comming to a stop quickly. The frist problem was a rear main seal on a 1994 Ford LTD station wagon on a engine I put in a coustomer's car. The seal was installeded by the engine rebuilder O'Reilly Auto got the engine from, as soon as I started the engine, it leaked. Only after having a heated dicussion with the manager of store #3788 did he provide me with a replacement seal and I installed it, removing the trans to do so as is needed. After making the repair I went to speak to the store manager about the labor warranty because I had to file a claim for it. Followed the store manager's instructions he said was the required paperwork, upon finishing it, he said he would submit it to the head office. He said two weeks and I would have the money. I didnt think much about it until the next part failure. Labor claim balance= 3.5 hrs x $85.00=$297.50

Three weeks later I was repairing a 1995 Fleetwood RV F53 chassis 460 c.i.d., the repair included replacing one of the air pumps because of failure. It took three days and went through five different pumps before I got one that worked. Meanwhile the owner of the RV was getting really upset since he was on vacation and due to O'Reilly Auto inability to get a working air pump, his frist 3 days were spent waiting on them to find a part that worked. Had to go to NAPA and get it since O'Reilly Auto couldn't. When I asked about the labor warranty claim form, the counter person stated that because the manager had left for the day I wasn't able to place a claim until the following tuesday. I asked about the other claim and was told that only the manager had that info. Labor claim balance= 1.5 hrs x 5 air pumps= 7.5hrs x $85.00= $637.50 + $297.50= $935.00

After the two above problems and getting nowhere with O'Reilly Auto head office trying to recover my lost income, another part failed I had purchased five months before but this part belonged to my sister's husband. Being I had installed it, and knew that when R&R a 2004 Toyota Tacoma 3rd member that outter bearings and seals are also done. The store manager of #3788 and my in-law  got into a arguement when the repair was questioned. The manager told my in-law that I may of installed the 3rd member incorrectly and that's because there wasn't a reciept that showed I replaced the bearings and seals he wasnt going to warranty the part. Problem was I had bought the parts and had a reciept, but parts were from NAPA. So the manager was forced to honor the warranty and said it would be done same day, again a failure on O'Reilly Auto. A employee called my in-law at 2 PM that afternoon and said that the 3rd member wouldnt be ready for 3 days because all the gears and bearing had to be replaced. I didnt want to do the warranty work because I hadnt received a dime of any of the labor claims I had pending already, in-law talked me into doing it.

So to make a long story short, 3rd member was installed by me, using parts supplied by O'Reilly Auto, and all was good....with the truck. I went to file a labor claim and was told that it would be submited the following day. The next AM I decided to call O'Reilly Auto head office and asked about my claims. I was told that they had no idea what I was talking about, there were no pending claims from store # 3788 and hadnt had one in at least a year. I called or rather tried to call the store manager with no luck. For 6 days I tried to reach him without luck. So I quit doing business with the losers there and have a parts vendor now who knows their business. And even paid me 2 labor claims on failed parts in 48 hours, in which I used to buy a new timing light! Labor claim balance= 7.5 hrs x $85.00=$637.50 + $935.00 (balance from frist two claims)=$1572.50 total.

The manager of store #3788 was the one who asked me to work on my in-laws truck, because I wasnt going to because O'Reilly Auto already owed me $935.00. Store manager assured me he would get me paid, what a lie. A measure of a MAN, in my opinion, is if he keeps his word or not. Business should do the same.

To finish here on my soap box, I ask you the American people, NO I BEG YOU, to boycott O'Reilly Auto Parts. Go anywhere but there and buy needed parts on line if you can, PLEASE SPEND YOUR MONEY ANYWHERE BUT AT O'REILLY AUTO PARTS. THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS.
