I received a check, along with a letter in the mail today stating that I had won a Sweepstakes. The amount of the check was $4,250. I was told to call a number and speak with Bob Evans (416-887-3048). I called and was instructed to deposit the check. I was told that after I deposited the check I should call back to receive instructions on how to pay $2,750.00 which would pay for applicable surcharges/govt.taxes due on my winnings. I was told that after I had paid that amount to the government that a check would be issued to me in the amount of $175,750.00 via FEDEX. I was also told that unclaimed money would go to charity. However, when I called I asked to what charity the funds would go to which could not be answered by the person I was speaking to.

I researched the company via internet and found no information about such a company. Also, the name on the check, Seafarers H&B Incorporated, is not anywhere to be found on the internet. Needless to say, I am not cashing the check. However, I thought it could be further researched to save some people some heartache in the future.
